Snapchat is changing its storage policy, introducing fees for users who store more than 5GB of data in Memories. This affects users globally, particularly those with extensive collections of photos and videos since the feature’s launch in 2016. Indian users will be charged INR 99 monthly for a plan that provides 1TB of storage. Elsewhere, the base subscription costs $1.99 monthly for 100GB, and the Snapchat+ plan offers 250GB for $3.99 per month. Those exceeding the free 5GB limit will have a 12-month period to either pay for continued storage or download their existing content. This shift to a subscription model is intended to support further investment in the Memories feature, allowing for ongoing improvements.
