In a significant boost to India’s Digital India initiative, the government has seamlessly integrated the Sampann pension portal with DigiLocker. Announced on Wednesday, this move allows pensioners from the telecommunications department to access critical documents like e-PPO, gratuity orders, and Form-16 instantly from anywhere.
Developed by the Office of the Controller General of Communication Accounts (CGA), the Sampann portal now empowers users to generate and download essential pension-related certificates with just a few clicks. By entering their PPO number under relevant service categories and hitting ‘Get Document,’ pensioners can receive customized files such as pension certificates, commutation payment orders, or tax forms directly into their DigiLocker accounts.
This integration eliminates the need for physical paperwork, saving time and resources for retirees across Delhi-NCR and beyond. Principal Controller of Communication Accounts in Delhi, Ashish Joshi, highlighted that it promotes paperless governance and digital self-reliance among pensioners. ‘This step reduces dependency on offices and aligns with our vision of efficient digital administration,’ he stated.
Pensioners can access the service via digilocker.gov.in using Aadhaar authentication, link their PPO number, and download documents on smartphones or computers anytime. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 29, 2018, Sampann has transformed pension management from office-centric to pensioner-centric, covering everything from applications to audits digitally.
The facility promises smoother processes for banking verifications, medical reimbursements, and more, ensuring documents remain secure and accessible without the hassle of repeated visits to government offices. This is a game-changer for thousands of retired telecom employees and their families, marking another milestone in India’s journey towards a fully digital economy.
