The launch of BSNL’s indigenous 4G network is scheduled for September 27th, an event to be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on X that the network is entirely developed in India, utilizes cloud technology, and is designed for future scalability, including seamless integration with 5G. The BSNL 4G infrastructure will be deployed across 98,000 sites, with the launch event taking place in Jharsuguda, Odisha. India is now joining the top countries, such as Sweden, Denmark, China, and South Korea, in the domain of telecom equipment manufacturing. The launch will also include a plan to connect 29,000 to 30,000 villages, enhancing digital connectivity in underserved regions. This will bring increased access to government services, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. The core network was designed by the Centre for Development of Telematics, with Tejas Networks contributing the Radio Access Network, and the entire system integrated by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). This achievement by BSNL is a stride towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, strengthening India’s competitive edge and technological capabilities on a global scale. This also paves the way for the adoption of 5G and other advanced technologies.
