New Delhi witnessed a pivotal meeting on Wednesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi sat down with Tufan Erginbilgic, CEO of Rolls-Royce. The discussion underscored India’s welcoming stance toward the company’s expansion plans in the country.
Posting on X, PM Modi expressed delight over the interaction. ‘Thrilled to meet Rolls-Royce CEO Tufan Erginbilgic today. We welcome Rolls-Royce’s enthusiasm to scale up operations in India and partner with our innovative, dynamic youth,’ he stated.
The encounter builds on Rolls-Royce’s prior announcements. The company aims to integrate deeply into India’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision by transforming its Global Capability Centre into the world’s largest, advancing co-manufacturing in complex sectors, and nurturing high-value engineering skills.
This comes amid strengthening India-UK ties. Last October, Rolls-Royce highlighted its participation in industry dialogues during UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit, coinciding with talks on a comprehensive economic and trade agreement.
Erginbilgic, part of Starmer’s business delegation, articulated bold ambitions. ‘We harbor deep aspirations to make India a home for Rolls-Royce, rooted in our robust partnership. Our cutting-edge technologies in air, land, and sea domains empower us to build capabilities domestically and forge strategic alliances, accelerating India’s developed nation goals,’ he remarked.
He further committed to India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat journey, emphasizing growth, self-reliance, innovation, and a stronger global footprint in key industries.
Rolls-Royce’s expertise spans civil aviation, defense, and energy sectors. These strengths position the firm to expand its footprint and partnerships in India, ensuring sustained contributions to the nation’s energy security, defense capabilities, and connectivity for decades ahead.
The meeting signals a new chapter in bilateral industrial collaboration, promising mutual economic benefits and technological advancement.
