New Delhi witnessed a flurry of high-level diplomatic engagements on Wednesday as Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held virtual discussions with key international figures to fortify bilateral relations and expand trade horizons.

In a pivotal conversation with UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Goyal emphasized deepening the India-UAE strategic partnership. Posting on X, he highlighted talks on strengthening trade ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration, signaling enthusiasm for elevating their partnership to unprecedented levels.

Goyal also connected with Chile’s Foreign Minister Francisco Perez Mackenna, focusing on advancing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations. The duo explored opportunities to bolster bilateral trade and relations, expressing eagerness to finalize a mutually beneficial pact soon.

Engagements extended to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, where discussions centered on enhancing India-GCC cooperation across sectors and reaffirming commitments to stronger economic and strategic bonds.

A successful virtual meeting with Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Osama Khalid Boudaei, saw exchanges on expanding bilateral trade and deepening cooperation in key areas.

Adding to the momentum, Goyal virtually addressed the launch of the India-USA Trade Facilitation Portal, hailing it as a visionary initiative that will directly connect Indian exporters with American importers, unlocking fresh opportunities in their trade partnership.

Amid global challenges, Goyal recently announced that the government is crafting a new set of measures to assist Indian exporters navigating disruptions from ongoing conflicts in West Asia. Several decisions across ministries are under consideration, with announcements expected shortly.

These interactions underscore India’s proactive diplomacy in safeguarding and growing its global trade footprint at a critical juncture.
