New Delhi is buzzing with innovation as the India AI Impact Summit 2026 kicks off from February 16 to 20. In a major boost for international visitors, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has rolled out enhanced ‘UPI One World’ wallet services, allowing delegates from over 40 countries to make seamless UPI payments without needing an Indian mobile number or local bank account.

This pilot initiative transforms the payment experience for foreign guests attending the summit at Bharat Mandapam. Attendees can now dive into India’s vibrant culture, shopping, and cuisine while relying on homegrown digital payment technology. The service is available at the NPCI pavilion in Hall 14 and New Delhi’s international airport.

Getting started is straightforward. Visitors download the CheckUPI app developed by Transcorp from the Play Store or App Store. They complete a quick registration by entering basic details, uploading passport and visa, taking a selfie via the app, and setting a UPI PIN. Once done, they receive a unique UPI ID.

Funding the wallet is easy with international debit or credit cards. Users can load up to ₹25,000 at a time, with a monthly limit of two loads totaling ₹50,000. Payments happen instantly by scanning UPI QR codes anywhere in India, eliminating the hassle of carrying cash or exchanging foreign currency.

Leftover balance can be refunded to the original payment source per foreign exchange rules. NPCI’s Executive Director for Growth, Sohini Rayola, hailed UPI as the world’s largest real-time payment system, underscoring its global potential.

This move not only enhances convenience for summit participants but also showcases India’s digital infrastructure on an international stage, paving the way for broader UPI adoption worldwide.
