In a landmark moment for global artificial intelligence collaboration, the India AI Impact Summit 2026 concluded at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi with the adoption of the ‘New Delhi Declaration.’ This unprecedented event, billed as the largest AI gathering to date, saw overwhelming support from 89 countries and international organizations.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on X that the declaration has been signed, reflecting worldwide endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s human-centric AI vision. Rooted in the principle of ‘Sarva Jan Hitaya, Sarva Jan Sukhaya’—for the welfare and happiness of all—this manifesto aims to democratize AI resources and benefits across humanity.

The summit fostered a shared global vision for trustworthy, resilient, and efficient AI systems. Participants united to champion AI as a driver of economic growth and social good, provided it is advanced responsibly with equitable opportunities.

Key pillars of the declaration include democratizing AI resources, boosting economic and social welfare, ensuring safe and reliable AI, leveraging AI for science, providing access for social empowerment, developing human capital, and building resilient AI systems. These form the bedrock for international AI cooperation.

Several groundbreaking initiatives were unveiled. A charter for democratic AI distribution promises affordable access to foundational resources. The Global AI Impact Commons will showcase and replicate successful AI use cases worldwide.

The Trustworthy AI Commons proposes a shared repository of tools, benchmarks, and best practices for secure AI development. An international network for AI in science aims to enhance global research collaboration. Platforms for social empowerment will share knowledge and extend AI reach to all societal segments.

Agreements on workforce development through AI literacy playbooks and reskilling principles were reached, alongside guidelines for energy-efficient, adaptable AI systems. The declaration positions AI as an economic powerhouse, urging open-source ecosystems, efficient infrastructure, and AI integration in governance and public services.

Nations recommitted to advancing shared AI governance priorities via voluntary frameworks and turning vision into action through sustained collaboration. This summit is poised to forge long-term partnerships, positioning AI as a key engine for global economic growth.
