JioHotstar, owned by Mukesh Ambani’s company, is making a strong entry into the OTT landscape, now competing head-on with Netflix. JioHotstar’s user numbers have risen to around 300 million, closing in on Netflix’s 301.6 million users. The current IPL season has been a significant success for Mukesh Ambani.

JioHotstar’s user count grew from 50 million in February 2024 to 280 million upon the launch of the Tata IPL. By the end of May, the user base approached 300 million, showing the impact of the IPL. The availability of free streaming and wide coverage fueled the rapid user acquisition.
