Intel is closing its automotive processor business, which will result in layoffs across the automotive group. This strategic decision is part of Intel’s broader plan to optimize its operations and focus on key areas, including client computing and data centers. The announcement was shared with employees through an internal memo, revealing a wind-down of the entire automotive segment. Before exiting, Intel will fulfill its existing commitments in the automotive sector. The company has not disclosed the exact number of affected employees. Notably, Intel’s majority stake in Mobileye, its self-driving tech company, is not impacted by these changes. Beyond the automotive division, the company is implementing additional cost-saving measures, including outsourcing its marketing activities and potential workforce reductions in its manufacturing operations under the leadership of the new CEO.
