New Delhi buzzes with excitement as India cements its position as a global powerhouse in artificial intelligence. BJP Rajya Sabha MP and spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi hailed the nation’s technological strides on Thursday, spotlighting the ongoing World AI Summit that draws world leaders like UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Trivedi didn’t hold back in criticizing the opposition, particularly Congress, for their conspicuous silence. ‘Everyone in India’s tech sector is thrilled, and our people are filled with pride. Yet, Congress and other opposition leaders haven’t issued a single positive statement,’ he remarked. He lamented how political rivalry trumps national achievements, urging that technological progress should rise above petty politics.
Reflecting on history, Trivedi noted that when BJP was in opposition, it consistently applauded every tech milestone and honored scientists’ contributions. ‘At the very least, the opposition could acknowledge our tech sector’s successes,’ he added.
The summit underscores India’s rising stature, with top global IT firms participating and leaders from 22 nations in attendance. Trivedi contrasted this with past skepticism, indirectly referencing former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram’s doubts about Indians’ ability to grasp new technologies or digital transactions.
Today, India leads the world in digital transactions and is forging ahead in AI, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership. Trivedi also praised Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for translating this vision into reality. ‘AI, or ‘Kritim Buddhi’ in Hindi, is a magnificent achievement. Only those lacking basic intelligence fail to recognize India’s pride in it,’ he quipped, taking a sharp dig at detractors.
