In a major boost to India’s burgeoning tech ecosystem, IBM has unveiled its inaugural Infrastructure Innovation Center in the country. Located within the cutting-edge India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) campus, the ‘Sangam Infrastructure Innovation Center’ is poised to position India as a global leader in advanced infrastructure engineering and artificial intelligence.

This collaborative hub brings together IBM’s top system architects and infrastructure experts to work alongside clients, independent software vendors, global system integrators, global capability centers, and other ecosystem partners. The focus is on co-creating AI solutions that integrate hybrid cloud capabilities, advanced infrastructure technologies, and cutting-edge AI into secure, scalable enterprise systems.

Sandeep Patel, Managing Director of IBM India and South Asia, emphasized that India stands at a pivotal juncture in its AI journey. ‘Infrastructure will be the deciding factor in how quickly and at what scale organizations can innovate,’ he stated. With companies across sectors modernizing their critical systems to become AI-ready, this center underscores IBM’s long-term commitment to India.

It empowers local teams to design, develop, and deploy infrastructure solutions at scale while contributing to global innovation pipelines. Subathra Srinivasa Raghavan, Vice President of IBM India Systems Development Lab, added that AI’s effectiveness hinges on robust supporting infrastructure. ‘This center combines deep systems engineering expertise with ecosystem collaboration to enable large-scale AI deployments with assured performance, security, governance, and reliability,’ she noted.

Recent data from IBM Institute for Business Value reveals that 58% of Indian companies have ramped up infrastructure investments to meet rising AI demands. Projections indicate a 19% surge in infrastructure budgets by 2025, with 43% of firms either establishing or planning AI Centers of Excellence. IBM’s initiative arrives at a perfect time, fueling this momentum and setting new benchmarks for AI-driven transformation in India.
