Gujarat Powers India's Record $863 B Export with $110 B Share

Ahmedabad, July 28 – Gujarat has emerged as the chief engine behind India’s historic export performance in the 2025‑26 financial year. The nation logged a record $863 billion in overseas sales, and the western state contributed roughly $110 billion, the highest share among all states. Sectors such as engineering goods, petroleum products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, gems and jewellery, and electronics have collectively bolstered Gujarat’s export basket.

Industry leaders attribute this surge to a series of state‑driven policies championed by the chief minister. Targeted measures for manufacturing, export facilitation and logistics have created a favourable environment for exporters, allowing Gujarat to consistently outpace the rest of the country.

According to the president of the Rajkot Engineering Association, Gujarat’s industrial policy remains a benchmark, and the latest revision is the first of its kind to be adopted at the national level.

Experts highlight the role of low logistics costs, world‑class ports and a network of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) that act as export hubs. These infrastructure advantages, combined with a proactive policy framework, have positioned Gujarat as the nation’s premier export state.

Former CII chief Vinod Agarwal notes that Gujarat is now branching out from traditional sectors into semiconductor and high‑tech manufacturing, drawing sizable investments and expanding its global manufacturing footprint. The outlook suggests continued growth in export capacity as new high‑value industries take root.

Rahil Singh, joint director of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade in Ahmedabad, affirmed that Gujarat’s robust port system, advanced industrial base, export‑oriented policies, and strong global market connectivity not only make it the top exporting state but also support India’s "Make in India," "Atmanirbhar Bharat" and "Developed India 2047" visions.
