Google is permanently closing down its Google URL Shortener service, with the final date set for August 25, 2025. After this date, the goo.gl service will be inaccessible. Users will encounter 404 errors when clicking on any existing goo.gl links. The 404 error message arises when a requested web page is unavailable.

Google is discontinuing the service due to decreased usage, with 99% of links showing no activity throughout June 2024. To replace its functionality, Google is steering users towards Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL). These links provide intelligent URLs that direct users to specific areas within Android, iOS, and web applications.
