A significant credit card fraud incident involving SBI customers has recently been reported. The fraud led to losses of approximately 2.6 crore rupees for about 350 individuals. The police, after a six-month investigation, arrested 18 people. The elaborate scheme involved call center employees, regional agents, SIM card providers, and cryptocurrency users. To avoid falling victim to such scams, it’s crucial to be informed and cautious. Here are some important tips to protect yourself if you use a credit card.

**5 Important Points to Prevent Credit Card Fraud:**

    1. **Never Disclose Your Information:** Avoid sharing your card’s OTP, CVV, PIN, or password with anyone. Do not share any confidential information, even if someone claims to be from your bank. Fraudsters can use your information to steal money from your account. Banks will never ask for such details over the phone or via messages.
    2. **Verify Callers from Banks:** If you receive a call from your bank, always verify the caller’s identity before sharing any information. You can do this by contacting the bank through their official website or customer care. Be wary of any suspicious calls.
    3. **Monitor Your Accounts Closely:** Keep track of all activity related to your bank account and credit card. Enable transaction alerts on your mobile to stay informed about every transaction. Immediately report any suspicious transactions to your bank and the police.
    4. **Prioritize Digital Security:** Avoid using public Wi-Fi for any banking or financial transactions. Regularly update your mobile and banking apps. Download apps only from trusted sources like Google Play Store or the App Store. Refrain from downloading apps from suspicious links received via WhatsApp or email.
    5. **Take Immediate Action if Suspicious:** If you suspect fraud, immediately block your credit card. Inform your bank and file a complaint with the police. You can also report the incident on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Quick action can help reduce potential financial losses.
