In a game-changing announcement from New Delhi, Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has unveiled its revolutionary Blade Battery 2.0, promising over 1,000 kilometers of driving range on a single charge under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). This next-generation battery technology not only shatters previous benchmarks but also introduces ultra-fast charging capabilities, completing a charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes.
The Blade Battery 2.0 marks a significant leap forward from its predecessor, which typically offered around 600 kilometers of range. BYD’s flash charging system redefines EV usability, allowing drivers to go from 10% to 97% in approximately nine minutes under normal circumstances. Even in extreme cold, where the battery is exposed to -30°C for 24 hours, it can still achieve 20% to 97% charge in about 12 minutes.
Safety remains paramount, as the Blade Battery 2.0 has aced rigorous tests including nail penetration and bottom impact, surpassing China’s latest national standards. The technology will debut in BYD’s premium Yangwang brand, specifically the luxury electric sedan Yangwang U7. With a 150 kWh battery pack, the U7 boasts a pure electric range of approximately 1,006 kilometers under CLTC standards.
