In a swift response to the escalating tensions in the Middle East, Air India successfully brought back 149 Indian nationals stranded in Dubai. The special flight, AI916D, touched down safely at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 10:58 AM IST on Tuesday.
The Boeing aircraft, registered as VT-EDC, carried passengers who were unable to leave due to the volatile situation in the region. This marks the first repatriation flight operated by any Indian airline during the current crisis, underscoring Air India’s pivotal role in ensuring citizen safety.
Air India’s operation control center worked around the clock, coordinating seamlessly with government bodies, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and Dubai authorities. Passengers were warmly welcomed upon arrival, reflecting the coordinated efforts to prioritize their well-being.
“The safety of our passengers and crew remains our top priority,” the airline stated. Teams are monitoring developments closely and preparing for additional flights as approvals come through. This operation highlights India’s proactive stance in protecting its citizens abroad amid geopolitical uncertainties.
As the Middle East situation remains fluid, Air India assures continued vigilance and rapid response. The successful mission provides relief to families back home and sets a precedent for future evacuations if needed.
