Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming various aspects of our lives, generating discussions on its advantages and disadvantages. Sridhar Vembu, the co-founder and Chief Scientist of Zoho Corporation, shared his thoughts on the practical and safe use of AI via a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Vembu notes AI’s effectiveness in expediting learning, enhancing work processes, and refining overall experiences. He personally incorporates AI into his daily routine, leveraging its capabilities multiple times a day, specifically for:

    * **Accelerated Learning:** AI has decreased the necessity for Google searches by approximately 80%.
    * **In-depth Analysis:** By utilizing AI tools to generate responses and subsequently using another AI to critique those responses, a more profound understanding of the subject matter is achieved.

Vembu issues a clear warning against complete reliance on AI, emphasizing caution in these critical areas:

    * **Customer Service:** While AI can be a helpful tool in customer service, it shouldn’t fully replace human agents. A major error is to copy and paste AI-generated content to customers without making its source clear.
    * **Coding:** AI-generated code must undergo a comprehensive review, paying close attention to compliance, privacy, and security standards. Programmers should not submit AI-generated code without scrutiny.

In conclusion, Vembu emphasizes the importance of reviewing all AI-generated content, irrespective of the time it demands. It’s necessary to avoid potential drops in productivity and possible setbacks. The Zoho team is constantly experimenting and willing to adjust their approach as they acquire new information.
