In a landmark recognition, the Adani Group has been appointed as the official partner for World Engineering Day (WED) 2026, an initiative led by UNESCO and organized by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO). This prestigious designation marks the first time an Indian organization has been selected to honor engineers’ contributions to sustainable development on this global platform.

The Adani Group, India’s leading developer in transport, utilities, and infrastructure, embodies the spirit of innovation driving clean energy transitions. This partnership underscores the conglomerate’s proven track record in delivering large-scale, reliable, and affordable clean power, bolstering India’s energy security while aligning with global Sustainable Development Goal 7.

Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy, emphasized the group’s commitment: ‘We’re proving that clean energy can be both massive in scale and affordable, powerful yet inclusive. This is India’s gift to the world—a model where progress and sustainability advance hand in hand.’ He highlighted the Khavda Renewable Energy Plant in Gujarat as a shining symbol of India’s climate action.

The theme for WED 2026, ‘Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future through Innovation and Digitalization,’ perfectly aligns with Adani’s endeavors in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and massive transport systems. These efforts demonstrate how technology-driven engineering translates sustainability into real-world impact.

Spanning 538 square kilometers—five times the size of Paris and comparable to Mumbai—the Khavda project boasts a planned capacity of 30 GW by 2029. WFEO has spotlighted it as a key example of India’s green transformation, featuring a short film in WED 2026 events to showcase its scale, ambition, and influence.

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has already operationalized over 7 GW at Khavda, with full 30 GW capacity on track for 2029. Upon completion, it will become the world’s largest power plant across all energy sources, revolutionizing global renewable energy landscapes and setting new benchmarks for engineering excellence.
