  • Howrah-Mumbai Train Derailed: List Of Today’s Trains Cancelled |

    New Delhi: The derailment of the 12810 Howrah-Mumbai mail on Tuesday morning resulted in the cancellation and short termination and origination of the train on July 30. The South Eastern Railway announced the cancellation of five trains and four trains have been either short-terminated or short-originated due to the accident. 

    In a tragic incident, two people were killed and others injured after several coaches of the Howrah-CSMT Express derailed near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand. The accident took place around 3:45 am, after which Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME), with staff and Additional Divisional Railway Managers CKP (Chakradharpur Railway Station), reached on-site to manage the situation.

  • Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express Accident: Multiple Coaches Derailed Near Gonda; 2 Dead, Dozens Injured | Railways News

    Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express Accident: In another tragic incident, around six coaches of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Gonda in Uttar Pradesh. So far, there are reports of two deaths while dozens of passengers are said to be injured. The accident took place around 2.40 pm. The six derailed coaches include at least four AC coaches. The accident happened near the Jhilahi station. The District Magistrate confirmed that at present 2 people have died while 2 others are seriously injured. “Apart from this, the injured are being taken to the hospital for treatment. At present, relief and rescue work is going on,” said Relief Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh.

    The driver of the train made a shocking claim saying that he heard a loud noise before the derailment. This raises suspicion on hand of anti-social elements in the train derailment. However, the truth will be out only after an inquiry.

    The train was enroute to Dibrugarh. A contingent of army jawans has reached at the site to help the local administration with a rescue operation. According to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office, CM Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the train accident in the Gonda district. He directed the officials to reach the spot immediately and expedite the relief work. He also instructed for proper treatment of the injured.


    As per the instructions of Chief Minister Adityanath, one team of NDRF has been dispatched from Lucknow and Balrampur to Gonda. Five ambulances have been deployed for relief and rescue operations at the site of the train accident. Additionally, orders have been given to send more ambulances to the spot. A team of doctors is present at the site, providing first aid to the injured. The injured are also being shifted to the hospital.

    The Relief Commissioner has dispatched an SDRF team from three districts to expedite the relief operations.

    Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has been briefed about the derailment of the Dibrugarh – Chandigarh express. He is monitoring the situation and the Government of Assam is in touch with relevant authorities, said the Assam Chief Minister’s Office.

    Reacting to the Dibrugarh-Chandigarh express derailment, Pankaj Singh, CPRO, North Eastern Railway said, “Medical van of Railways has reached the spot and rescue operation has been started. Helpline numbers have been issued. It happened around 2.37 pm.”

    The train derailment came a month after Kanchanjunga train accident in West Bengal. At least 11 people had died and more than 40 were injured in the accident that took place after a goods train collided with the stationary Kanchanjunga Express.

    Two passengers and a sanitation staffer were injured after the head of a big drilling machine crashed into a moving train on the outskirts of Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur on Sunday, officials said.
    The incident took place around 10 am when the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai)-bound Shalimar Express was passing through Urkura railway station ahead of the Raipur station, a railway public relations official here said.
    Earlier, officials had said that a pole located near the tracks fell on the train. The piece of metal was later found to be a “drill machine reamer” which looks like a pole, the official said.
    As the train reached Raipur station, rail personnel, including doctors rushed to the affected coach and administered first aid to the injured passengers, the official said.
    The injured persons – train passengers Devari Dhivar (30) and Somil Mandal (12) and sanitation staffer Narayan Chandra Bag – were then admitted to a government hospital here, he said.
    “The investigation into the accident revealed that it was not a pole. Rather, it was a reamer of a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) machine engaged in drilling work by the state-run electricity company,” the PRO said.
    The electricity company was conducting drilling operations beneath the railway tracks. The machine’s reamer was being pulled out when the train was passing through Urkura. But it unexpectedly came out of the ground and hit the train, he said.
    The reamer scraped three AC (B4, B5 and B6) and one sleeper (S2) coaches, damaging window pans, and injuring three persons besides causing scratches on the bogies.
    The train left for its destination around noon, the official said.
    “The state’s electricity department was carrying out unauthorised work and the safety of human lives was compromised. Further investigation into the incident is underway,” the official added.
