  • ‘Classless Players, Apni Aukaat Mat Bhulo’: CSK, RCB Fans Begin Social Media War After Faf du Plessis And Co ‘Neglect’ MS Dhoni | cricket news

After the IPL 2024 clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), a controversy took place and interestingly it involved the former Chennai captain MS Dhoni, who has possibly played his last IPL. Dhoni has not yet announced his IPL retirement but with the way he thanked the Chennai crowd after their last match at home, it appears ‘Thala’ wants to bid goodbye to the only cricket tournament he plays after international retirement. Dhoni would have liked to end on a good note, with the record-making sixth IPL trophy. Alas, it was not to be.

CSK had themselves to be blamed as after starting well, their campaignd derailed and this season they lost more games at home than expected. In the end, they needed a simple win to qualify for the playoffs. But they batted poorly in the chase and could not achieve the cut-off score even to qualify.

RCB, on the other hand, won 6 matches on the trot to qualify. They won some of these matches by good margin also which boosted their Net Run rate (NRR). They were on the cusp on being knocked out early but they picked up their game in the last 3 weeks and will now play the Eliminator vs Rajasthan Royals.

RCB fought hard and had every right to celebrate the win over CSK in their lowest group match. The celebrations were extended on the ground. An upset MS Dhoni lined up in a queue to shake hands with the RCB players. Upon seeing their celebration, he left the ground after shaking hands with the support staff of the opposition camp.

One cannot say whether Dhoni got angered by RCB’s extended celebrations over playoffs qualification on the field but cameras have recorded him leaving the ground.

On social media, a sort of war has erupted since then. RCB fans are targeting Dhoni for not waiting to shake hands with opposition players. On the other hand, CSK fans are also alleging that RCB players did not show respect to a senior player like MSD by ignoring him.

One Twitter user, who happens to be a CSK fan, wrote that RCB players are classless and the should not forget that Dhoni won 5 IPL titles for CSK and should have been respected. The RCB fans also gave fitting replies to the CSK fan, saying that all MSD had to was walk 50 meters or less to shake hands.

Check out RCB and CSK fans at loggerheads below:

The classless RCB players who took turns to do cartwheels on the field like they had won the IPL trophy making the 5 times champions CSK team wait forever. Cricbuzz rightly criticized the RCB players for not shaking hands with #Dhoni. No class.

The mystery continues over Dhoni’s future at CSK. Is he going to come back to win another title for Chennai next season as a player. Experts say that if BCCI keeps the Impact Player rule, in which 12 players can take part in an IPL game across the two innings, there are more chances for aging Dhoni playing next season again. The rule gives him the cushion to play purely as a batter lower down the order.

  • How Can RCB Qualify For IPL 2024 Playoffs After Big Win Over Gujarat Titans? Check All Qualification Scenarios | cricket news

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were quite exceptional to watch on Sunday Saturday night when they beat Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans (GT) by four wickets with more than six overs remaining in hand. The big win has boosted their Net Run Rate (NRR), helping them jump to 7th in the standings. Virat Kohli hit a 27-ball 42 and Faf du Plessis slammed 23-ball 64 to set up the win for RCB. There were jitters in the middle as Cameron Green (1) and Glenn Maxwell (4) got out without contributing much but Dinesh Karthik (21*) and Swapnil Singh (15*) ensured RCB crossed the line.

As a result, GT have slipped to ninth in the standings with just 4 wins from 11 games and it looks very tough for them to qualify for the playoffs. RCB are on seventh spot and their big-margin victory on Saturday means that the table is quite chaotic in the middle.

How can RCB qualify for the playoffs?

RCB have done themselves a huge favor by beating GT by such a huge margin as their NRR has massively improved. But it is still in negative thanks to previous losses. RCB have NRR of -0.49 which will make it very difficult for them to qualify.

Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders already have 16 and 14 points respectively and they look set to finish in the top 4 at least. RCB have three matches remaining and they need to make sure they win all three. They are playing Punjab Kings (PBKS), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

If RCB win all 3 games, they will then hope that Sunrisers Hyderabad (placed at 4 in the points table) and Lucknow Super Giants (3rd in standings) does not get more than 1 win from their remaining 4 games. In this scenario, both SRH and LSG will finish with 14 points.

Also, CSK and DC who are on 10 points, must not get more than 2 wins from remaining matches while PBKS must not win more than 3 games out of their remaining four. In this scenario, all these 3 teams will be on 14 points at the end of their league games.

If all of these scenarios take place, all these teams mentioned above will finish with 14 points and then the NRR will decide who goes in and who goes out. This, indirectly, means that RCB must look to win remaining 3 games with a bigger margin to boost their NRR.

Even if RCB finish with just 12 points, even then they have the chance to qualify. But they will hope and pray that all other teams mentioned above also finish with 12 points and again NRR will be a deciding factor.

  • ‘It Is Tough’, RCB Captain Faf du Plessis Puts BLAME On This Department For Loss To SRH In High-Scoring Contest In IPL 2024 | cricket news

Following his side’s loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Faf Du Plessis lauded the batters for not giving up during a tough chase of 288 runs but said that bowlers giving 30-40 extra runs proved costly for the team. . A fighting half-century by Dinesh Karthik and an explosive powerplay partnership between skipper Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli went in vain as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) could not chase the 288-run target set by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), restricted to 262. /7 in their run-chase at Bengaluru on Monday.

Speaking after the match, Faf said during the post-match presentation, “Much better (batting performance) from us; that was a proper T20 wicket. I just tried to get close in the end, but 280 was very far. It is tough. We tried a few things. The fast bowlers found it quite difficult out there. need to make sure the run rate does not go down after the powerplay.”

“The guys put up their hands and never gave up (in the run chase). It was good to see the fight. Thirty to forty runs from the bowling perspective were a bit too much. It’s important to go away and freshen your mind; It’s such a mental game. Sometimes you feel like your mind is going to explode. When you get back to the contest, you have to give your full commitment.

Coming to the match, RCB put SRH to bat first after winning the toss. A 108-run partnership came between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma (34 in 22 balls, with two fours and two sixes). Klaasen (66 in 31 balls, with two fours and seven sixes) had a 57-run partnership with Head for the second wicket and a 66-run partnership with Aiden Markram (32* in 17 balls, with two fours and two sixes). Later, a quickfire cameo by Abdul Samad (37* in 10 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes) took SRH to 287/3 in their 20 overs. Lockie Ferguson was the pick of the bowlers for RCB, with 2/52 in four overs.

In the run chase, Virat Kohli (42 in 20 balls, with six fours and two sixes) and skipper Faf Du Plessis (62 in 28 balls, with seven fours and four sixes) put up an admirable 80-run partnership within the powerplay, Unfazed by the scoring rate and target.

But a brilliant spell from skipper Cummins (3/43) and Mayank Markande (2/46) reduced RCB to 122/5. Despite that, Dinesh Karthik (83 in 35 balls, with five fours and seven sixes) and Anuj Rawat (25* in 14 balls with five fours) put up a fight but fell short of 25 runs, ending at 262/7.

With this loss, RCB is at the bottom of the table, with just one win in seven overs. They have just two points. SRH now has four wins and two losses, with eight points. They are in the fourth spot.

  • What RCB Needs To Do To Qualify For IPL 2024 Playoffs After Losing 5 Out Of 6 Matches? , cricket news

Currently, it looks like RCB’s 16-year dream of lifting the IPL trophy will have to one more year as the Faf du Plessis-led side sit at the bottom of the table with the worst bowling stats of the IPL 2024 season so far. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have lost 5 out of the 6 matches they have played this year so far which makes their qualification scenario pretty tough if they keep performing like they have this season.

How Can RCB Qualify For IPL 2024 Playoffs?

RCB have to win seven out of the eight games left to secure a spot in the playoffs. Also, it also depends on the results of other teams as well that RCB secure a playoff spot. (Blame Game In MI Camp After Hardik Pandya’s MI Lose To CSK? Mumbai Captain Makes Big Statement)

As the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) finalists Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) take on a highly-anticipated clash at Bengaluru, all eyes will be on team’s two respective finishers, Heinrich Klaasen and Dinesh Karthik.

Pat Cummins-led SRH will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the latter’s home venue of M Chinaswammy Stadium. While SRH is in the fifth spot with three wins and two losses, RCB is desperately searching for wins and is at the bottom with a win and five losses.

While Klaasen has enjoyed support from Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram and other in-form batsmen, the same cannot be said for Karthik. RCB’s batting line-up has not clicked well as a unit and most of the times, it is him and Virat who have done the heavy lifting. Despite such responsibilities of carrying an off-colour batting line-up, Karthil has made 143 runs in five innings at an average of 71.50, ending unbeaten thrice. His strike rate is 190.66. He has scored one half-century, with the best score of 53*. His death overs strike rate this season is 243.90.

Both teams are extremely feared hitters of their team and can change the game within a matter of a few balls. Will Klaasen’s monumental run in T20 continue or will Dinesh accelerate RCB’s run flow and help then win? Only time will tell.

“There are a lot of factors to bowl quick – diet, sleep, training. I am focusing a lot on my diet and recovery – ice bath,” he said. LSG skipper KL Rahul could not be more pleased for a cricketer who has shown great temperament to complement his thunderous pace.

After rattling Punjab Kings batters with pace on his IPL debut, the 21-year-old meted out similar treatment to RCB batters to end with a second straight three-wicket haul. Rahul is having a hard time keeping up with Mayank but he is not complaining. “One ball hit me really hard, so happy to see Mayank bowl the way he’s been bowling. He’s waited patiently for a year, he’s working really hard, he’s really professional, has a great temperament,” said Rahul at the post-match presentation. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis also gave due credit to Mayank.

“It is the new action you haven’t faced before, and if they have pace then you need time to get used to it. But his ability to control length and have accuracy is impressive.

“You need two guys to bat through and get a partnership which we were not able to do. We need the strong characters in the dressing room to put their hand up,” said du Plessis after RCB’s third loss in four games.

Punjab began their campaign with a win against Delhi Capitals (DC) but they failed to win their second match, and first away game. Preity Zinta, one of the Punjab owners, had a weary look on her face to see her side go down after being in a winning position.

However, Punjab's NRR is still 0.025 and they are not lagging too behind in the points table, at the moment. Dhawan's PBKS are fifth on the table with 1 win from 2 matches. Their next match in IPL 2024 is against KL Rahul's Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on March 30. Expect Preity to be there to see her side, hopefully, win that contest and strengthen their position in the standings.

As far as RCB are concerned, they got off to a terrible start in IPL 2024, losing the first match to CSK. They were nearing another loss before Dinesh Karthik played a blinder and finished the match in their favour, thanks to a 10-ball 29 run unbeaten innings. RCB are 6th on the table now with 1 win from 2 games but their NRR is in negative. They will be required to register a landslide victory in a couple of games to improve their NRR, which could be a deciding factor at the fag end of the tournament.
