In contrast, CPI’s Annie Raja’s declared assets amount to a modest Rs 72 lakh, with Rs 71 lakh attributed to inherited property. • Avoid Remarks Like ‘Pickpocket’, ‘Panauti’: EC’s Advisory To Rahul Gandhi Ahead Of Lok Sabha Polls |

NEW DELHI: As political parties gear up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has reportedly issued an advisory to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, urging him to exercise caution in his public statements.

    Delhi High Court’s Directive

The advisory comes in response to the Delhi High Court’s directive to the ECI to take appropriate action against Rahul Gandhi for his speech in November of the previous year. In the said speech, he used terms like ‘pickpocket’ while criticizing BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Election Commission had previously issued a notice to Rahul Gandhi regarding his use of ‘panauti and pickpocket’ remarks directed at PM Modi. The sources reveal that the ECI reiterated its advisory on March 1 of the current year, emphasizing its importance during the ongoing campaign.

“After considering all facts, including the Delhi High Court order and Rahul Gandhi’s reply, the Election Commission of India has advised the Congress leader to be more careful and cautious in the future,” stated a source.

Exercise Restraint, Maintain Decorum: EC To Parties

In light of the declining standards of political discourse in recent elections, the Election Commission issued an advisory last week to all political parties. The advisory stressed the need to maintain decorum, exercise utmost restraint in public campaigning, and elevate election campaigning to an “issue-based” debate.

The Election Commission will assess any indirect violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) based on the advisory. This assessment will serve as a fair basis to rework notices considering time and content for the upcoming elections.

    CEC Stresses On Ethical Discourse

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar recently emphasized the importance of ethical and respectful political discourse. He urged political parties to inspire rather than divide and promote ideas instead of resorting to personal attacks.

Notice To ‘Star Campaigners’ And Candidates

The Election Commission has put ‘star campaigners’ and candidates on notice, warning of consequences in case of violations. This proactive measure aims to prevent breaches of the Model Code of Conduct during the electoral process for the Lok Sabha and four state Legislative assemblies.

  • Priyanka Gandhi Likely To Make Lok Sabha Poll Debut From Raebareli; Rahul To Contest From Amethi And Wayanad |

NEW DELHI: After much anticipation, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is likely to make her electoral debut from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, a constituency held by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for three terms, sources said on Wednesday. This move comes as Priyanka’s mother, former party chief Sonia Gandhi, announced her decision not to seek re-election from Raebareli, a seat she had secured five times in the past, including in 2019 when she emerged as the sole Congress victor in UP.

Rahul Gandhi To Contest From Amethi And Wayanad

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi is poised to reclaim the Congress stronghold of Amethi, which he lost to BJP’s Smriti Irani in a surprising defeat in 2019. Importantly, Rahul will also contest from Wayanad in Kerala, a seat he won in the previous general election, ensuring his Lok Sabha status.

Priyanka Gandhi’s foray into electoral politics has been long-awaited, with speculations rife after Sonia Gandhi’s withdrawal from Raebareli. The striking resemblance between Priyanka and her grandmother, Indira Gandhi, has not escaped the notice of constituents. Posters urging Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to contest from Raebareli have surfaced in the constituency, reflecting the anticipation among locals for her candidacy.

    Awaiting BJP’s Move

The BJP is yet to announce its candidate for Raebareli, following its defeat by a significant margin in 2019. However, it has been confirmed that Smriti Irani will defend her seat in Amethi, setting the stage for a high-stakes electoral battle in Uttar Pradesh.

As Priyanka Gandhi prepares to step into the electoral arena from Raebareli, and Rahul Gandhi gears up to reclaim Amethi, the political landscape in Uttar Pradesh braces for intense competition ahead of the upcoming elections.

  • Zee News-MATRIZE Opinion Poll: NDA Projected To Win Big In 2024 LS Polls, Vote Share Likely To Increase By Over 5% |

New Delhi: As the 2024 Lok Sabha elections draw near, the whole country is on the edge of their seats to see the political drama that will ensue. The leading parties are ready to battle it out, and the guessing game has started, with the election dates expected to be announced soon. In this context, Zee News and MATRIZE have conducted an opinion poll, which is the first of its kind after the formation of alliances, including the new partners of the NDA and the rise of the opposition’s INDIA bloc.

The Zee News-MATRIZE Lok Sabha Opinion Poll took place from February 5th to February 27th. It collected opinions from 1,67,843 people across 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, comprising 87,000 men and 54,000 women. Moreover, the poll included the opinions of 27,000 first-time voters. The poll results have a margin of error of plus or minus 2 per cent. It’s crucial to note that these are not election outcomes but only an opinion poll, and no one should try to sway the elections based on these findings.

How Many Seats Will NDA-INDIA Get In 2024?

The Zee News-MATRIZE poll shows that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to win a substantial majority if elections were held today. The NDA is poised to win 377 seats against INDIA bloc’s 93 seats. In 2019 General Elections, the BJP won 351 seats while the UPA secured just 90 Lok Sabha seats.

What Will Be NDA-INDIA’s Vote Share In 2024 LS Polls?

NDA’s vote share is likely to hike by over 5 per cent to reach 43.6 per cent in comparison to 2019. In 2019, the alliance got 38.4% of votes. Meanwhile, INDIA bloc may get 27.7 per cent of votes in 2024. The UPA got 26.6% of votes in 2019. A steep decline can be seen in vote percentage of other parties, resulting to their vote share dropping from 35.2 per cent in 2019 to 24.9 per cent in 2024.

The survey suggests a resounding victory for the NDA in major regions of North, East, and West India. However, the southern states appear to favour the Opposition INDIA bloc, according to the survey results. This difference highlights the regional factors that influence Indian politics.

  • Congress, AAP Join Hands For Lok Sabha Elections, Reveal Seat-Sharing Deal For 3 States, 2 UTs |

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress have forged an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The parties have announced their seat-sharing arrangements for Delhi, Gujarat and Haryana. In Gujarat, the Congress will fight for 24 seats, AAP for 2; in Haryana, the Congress will vie for 9 seats, AAP for one seat; in Delhi, AAP will have the upper hand with four seats, the Congress with 3 seats.

“Congress will contest on 24 seats out of 26 in Gujarat. AAP will field its candidates on 2 seats – Bharuch and Bhavnagar,” said Mukul Wasnik, Congress general secretary and MP. “In Haryana, which has 10 Lok Sabha seats, Congress will contest on 9. AAP will have its candidates on 1 seat – in Kurukshetra,” he added.

In Delhi, AAP will compete in New Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi and East Delhi; the Congress will challenge in Chandni Chowk, North East and North West seats. Wasnik said that after a long discussion, it was agreed that the Congress will contest in the Chandigarh seat. In Goa, the Congress will contest both the Lok Sabha seats.

The two parties did not comment on Punjab, where AAP had formed a government in 2022 after ousting the Congress. Earlier this month, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal declared that his party will contest all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab. AAP and Congress, former adversaries in Punjab and Delhi, had contested the Chandigarh mayoral elections in alliance last month and won with the Supreme Court’s intervention.

“The country is facing a grave situation – the BJP Government is destroying all institutions one by one, the elections are being ‘rigged’ and Opposition leaders are being jailed to win elections, the farmers are being treated unjustly, the people of the country are suffering from unemployment and inflation…the country needs an honest and strong alternative,” said AAP MP Sandeep Pathak after announcing the alliance.

“With that in mind, we set aside our own political interests and kept the interest of the nation in mind. We came together in this alliance. The country is more important than the party. This election will not be fought as Congress versus AAP, but as INDIA versus BJP,” he added.

  • ‘Nani Ko Nanihal Ka Haal…’: Rahul Gandhi Slams PM Modi On UP Police Constable Paper Leak Case |

New Delhi: Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the Uttar Pradesh police constable paper leak case.

Taking on social media site X (formerly Twitter), Rahul Gandhi said that aspirants in lucknow and Prayagraj are out on streets protesting for paper leak in UPPRPB exam while just 100 kms away  in Varanasi the PM is “misleading” the youth.

“From Lucknow to Prayagraj, youth are on the streets over the police recruitment paper leak. And just 100 km away from there in Varanasi, the Prime Minister is misleading the youth in the name of the youth,” stated Rahul Gandhi. Summing up the situation using a hindi proverb Rahul said, “In typical Banarasi style, Modi ji nani ko nanihaal ka haal suna rahe hain.”

Previously, reports surfaced regarding the leakage of exam papers and instances of candidate impersonation during the UP Police constable exam conducted on February 17 and 18. Since then, aspirants have been protesting and demanding a re-conduction of the exam.

Media reports suggest that the UP Police Constable exam paper was leaked on social media platforms and WhatsApp even before candidates entered the exam hall. However, the UPPRPB denied these allegations, stating that the question paper was not leaked.

Meanwhile, The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has formed an internal committee to investigate allegations of paper leaks and the circulation of question papers and answer sheets on social media platforms.

According to the chairperson of the recruitment board, Renuka Mishra, the decision to establish an internal committee was made in response to concerns raised by candidates on social media.

Ashok Kumar Singh, an officer holding the rank of Additional Director General (ADG), will lead the committee. Mishra mentioned that subsequent actions will be determined based on the findings of the investigation, which will focus on the viral question papers and answer sheets.

  • Smriti Irani Vs Rahul Gandhi Face-Off In Amethi Today But Will RaGa Contest From UP Seat Again? |

Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Rahul Gandhi is on the last leg of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Rahul Gandhi will be in Amethi today and the current MP from the seat Smriti Irani will also reach her constituency on a four-day tour today. Irani had defeated Gandhi from the seat in the 2019 parliamentary elections. While Rahul Gandhi lost from Amethi, he won the Wayanad seat thus retaining his Lok Sabha membership. Now, with the two leaders again touring the hot seat, the question is – whether Rahul Gandhi will again challenge Smriti Irani from the seat.

    Rahul To Contest From Amethi?

For quite some time, there have been rumours within the Congress that Rahul Gandhi might contest elections from Amethi once again. Not contesting from here may send a wrong message in the Hindi-speaking region. Reacting to the question, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, “CEC will decide on who will contest from Amethi. Rahul Gandhi has been an MP from Amethi thrice. His father Rajiv Gandhi also used to contest from Amethi. It is a very important constituency for the Congress party.”

With Sonia Gandhi moving to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan, the Congress party has shunned its lone Lok Sabha seat from Uttar Pradesh. Now, it will be important to see who will be Congress candidates from the Amethi and Raebareli.

    Smriti’s Challenge From Kerala

A few days ago, Smriti Irani had said during her visit to Kerala that she sent the current Wayanad MP to the seat from Uttar Pradesh. She urged the voters to ensure that he did not get another opportunity for the seat again. On the other hand, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are scheduled to hold a rally at 4 PM in Babuganj, Amethi.

    Amethi Remains A Hot Seat

While Rahul may stay in Amethi for around 12 hours, Irani will stay put in the constituency for four days. This is perhaps the second time when both will be present in Amethi at the same time. However, the possibility of a face-to-face encounter between Rahul and Smriti is low as their schedules are different.

Smriti usually visits Amethi frequently. This time, she is planning to stay for four days. Smriti will listen to people’s issues through a Jan Samvad program. She will be present at her homecoming program on February 22. Smriti Irani is likely to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Amethi again. She has been consistently criticizing Rahul Gandhi.
