  • Maharashtra Secures 52.46% Of India’s Total Foreign Investment In Q1 Of FY 2024-25 | Economy News

Maharashtra has once again cemented its position as the top destination for foreign investment in India, attracting a staggering 52.46% of the country’s total investments in the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year. From April to June 2024, the state received a total of Rs 70,795 crore in foreign direct investment (FDI), far surpassing any other state in India.

This milestone continues Maharashtra’s two-year streak as the leader in attracting FDI. The state’s dominance is evident as its investments exceed the combined total of all other top-ranking states. Karnataka followed with Rs 19,059 crore, Delhi at third with Rs 10,788 crore, and Telangana, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu taking the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots with Rs 9,023 crore, Rs 8,508 crore, and Rs 8,325 crore respectively. The combined investment of these states still falls short of Maharashtra’s achievement.

Commenting on the development, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “Congratulations Maharashtra ! Very good news ! Maharashtra leads in FDI with a staggering 52.46% of India’s total investment ! Maharashtra which is consecutively ranked No. 1 for last 2 years in FDI, now has secured maximum investment i.e 52.46% of India’s total FDI in the 1st quarter of the financial year 2024-2025.”

The total foreign investment in India for the first quarter was Rs 1,34,959 crore, with Maharashtra’s contribution accounting for over half of this at Rs 70,795 crore.

    A Streak of Success

This stellar performance builds on Maharashtra’s strong FDI record in the previous financial years. In FY 2022-23, the state attracted Rs 1,18,422 crore in foreign investment—more than Karnataka, Delhi, and Gujarat combined. In FY 2023-24, Maharashtra brought in Rs 1,25,101 crore, surpassing both Gujarat and Karnataka combined once again.

From 2014 to 2019, during its previous stint in power, Maharashtra had drawn Rs 3,62,161 crore in FDI. Notably, since returning to power, the current administration has attracted an impressive Rs 3,14,318 crore in just two and a half years, approaching the earlier five-year total.

    What Lies Ahead

While Maharashtra continues to break investment records, the data for the second quarter is yet to be released. Given its current trajectory, the state is poised to maintain its leadership in attracting foreign capital, further strengthening its position as India’s economic powerhouse.

  • 35-Foot Tall Statue Of Shivaji Maharaj Inaugurated By PM Modi Collapses In Sindhudurg; Opposition Slams State Govt |

A 35-foot statue of Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rajkot Fort in Malvan, Sindhudurg district, collapsed on Monday. The incident, occurring around 1 PM, has sparked significant criticism from opposition parties, who have blamed the state government for negligence and poor quality of work. The statue was inaugurated last year on December 4.

Heavy Rains and Winds Suspected as Contributing Factors

According to local officials, the statue’s collapse may have been influenced by recent severe weather conditions. The Sindhudurg district has experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds over the past two to three days. While experts are expected to investigate and determine the exact cause of the collapse, weather-related factors are currently being considered as potential contributors.

Opposition Blames State Government For Neglect

Following the incident, opposition leaders have been vocal in their criticism of the state government. NCP (SP) state president and former minister Jayant Patil accused the government of prioritizing the event over the quality of the statue’s construction. “The state government is responsible for this collapse due to their lack of proper care. They were more focused on organizing an event with Prime Minister Narendra Modi than ensuring the statue was built to last,” Patil stated. He further alleged that the government’s approach to the project involved issuing new tenders, accepting commissions, and awarding contracts without proper oversight.

Similarly, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Vaibhav Naik condemned the alleged poor quality of workmanship. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into those responsible for the construction and installation of the statue. “The state government may try to shirk responsibility, but those accountable for this project must be thoroughly investigated,” Naik asserted.

     Government’s Response

In response to the criticism, Maharashtra Minister Deepak Kesarkar acknowledged the incident but noted that he did not have complete details at the time. He referenced a statement by PWD Minister Ravindra Chavan, who is also the guardian minister of Sindhudurg district, affirming that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted.

Kesarkar also assured that the government is committed to rectifying the situation. “We are dedicated to erecting a new statue at the same location. This statue, unveiled by PM Modi, honors Shivaji Maharaj’s visionary efforts in constructing a sea fort. We will take all necessary measures to address this issue promptly and effectively,” he said.

It has become a real estate company in the Thane district of Maharashtra, near Mumbai, specifically in the Mira Bhayandar area. Not only has it illegally seized land in Mira Bhayandar, but it has also established a system of land extortion throughout the entire area. Moreover, whenever a building is constructed in the Mira Bhayandar area, one must first obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from this private company. In exchange for NOC, this private company extorts lakhs of rupees. You would be surprised to know that this private company owns all the land in the Mira Bhayandar area. And the government has given this right to the company. This is the biggest land fraud in independent India. Today, we are going to expose it with solid evidence and witnesses.

We have contacted local social workers and leaders working in the Mira Bhayandar area who are fighting a legal battle against The Estate Investment Company’s land extortion.
