  • IPL 2024: Blame Game In LSG Camp After Loss To DC As KL Rahul Slams Team | cricket news

Lucknow Super Giants suffered third consecutive loss in IPL 2024 going down against Delhi Capitals (DC) by 19 runs. LSG captain KL Rahul pinpointed the team’s struggles in the powerplay as the primary reason for their position in the league. Reflecting on the match, Rahul emphasized, “Losing a lot of wickets in the powerplay was the big reason why we are in this position.” Despite a valiant effort from Nicholas Pooran and Arshad Khan, Lucknow Super Giants fell short, succumbing to a 19-run defeat at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Coming to the match, DC, opting to bat first, posted a big total of 208/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Stubbs and Abhishek Porel spearheaded the innings with fine fifties, propelling their team to a formidable total. Naveen-ul-Haq emerged as the top bowler for Lucknow Super Giants, claiming figures of 2/51.

In response, Lucknow Super Giants faced early setbacks, finding themselves at 44/4. However, resilient half-centuries from Nicholas Pooran and Arshad Khan kept their hopes alive. Despite their efforts, the relentless bowling performance from Delhi Capitals restricted Lucknow Super Giants to 189/9 by the end of their innings.

Rahul lamented the missed opportunity, stating, “When we got JFM out in the first over we should have capitalized, but they – Hope and Porel – showed a lot of intent.” He acknowledged the significance of a solid start in setting the stage for their power-hitters like Stoinis and Pooran.

Expressing disappointment, Rahul highlighted a recurring issue throughout the season, “We keep losing a lot of wickets in the powerplay, we never get a solid start to get the likes of Stoinis and Pooran in.” This consistent struggle to establish a solid foundation has hindered Lucknow Super Giants’ performance in the league.

With this defeat, Delhi Capitals climbed to the fifth position in the standings, concluding their season with seven wins and 14 points. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants slipped to seventh place, managing six wins and 12 points. The fate of both teams’ playoff aspirations now hangs in the balance, contingent upon the outcomes of the remaining fixtures involving other franchises.

  • Blame Game In Mumbai Indians Camp After Defeat vs KKR, Captain Hardik Pandya Says THIS | cricket news

It was a night of reckoning for the Mumbai Indians (MI) as they suffered a demoralizing 24-run defeat at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Despite a clinical bowling performance that restricted KKR to 169, MI’s batsmen faltered, succumbing to the relentless pressure exerted by the opposition bowlers. In the post-match presentation, a visibly dejected Hardik Pandya, the MI captain, pinpointed the lack of partnerships as the primary reason for his team’s downfall. “In the batting inning, we couldn’t form partnerships and kept losing wickets. In T20s, if you don’t form partnerships, it will cost you,” lamented Pandya, acknowledging the harsh reality of their performance.

Trailing the Target, Mumbai Batters Crumble

Chasing a challenging total of 170, Mumbai’s top order once again faltered, leaving the middle order exposed. Suryakumar Yadav’s valiant 56 provided a glimmer of hope, but his dismissal triggered a spectacular collapse, with the remaining batters failing to build any significant partnerships.

Pandya, known for his candid assessments, admitted that there were many questions that needed to be answered, but he refrained from delving into specifics, perhaps reserving his thoughts for the dressing room debrief. “There are a lot of questions that will take some time to answer, but for now, not much to say,” he stated, reflecting the team’s disappointment.

    Hardik Stays Positive, Looks Ahead

Despite the setback, Pandya maintained a positive outlook, acknowledging the efforts of his bowling unit in keeping KKR’s total within reach. “The bowlers did a fantastic job, the wicket got a little better after the first innings, the dew came on,” he said, recognizing the challenging conditions his batters faced.

Embodying the spirit of a true leader, Pandya vowed to keep fighting, reminding himself and his teammates that the highs and lows are an integral part of the game. “You keep fighting, that is what I tell myself, never leave the battlefield, tough days come but good also come here, it’s challenging but challenges make you better,” he asserted, setting the tone for the upcoming matches.

Mumbai’s Road Ahead: Lucknow Super Giants Await

The Mumbai Indians now face the daunting task of regrouping and preparing for their next encounter against the formidable Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday. With their campaign hanging in the balance, Pandya and his men will need to address their batting woes and rediscover their winning formula if they hope to salvage their IPL 2024 aspirations. As the IPL caravan moves on, one thing is certain: the blame game within the Mumbai Indians camp will continue until they find a way to overcome their shortcomings and reclaim their status as one of the most feared teams in the tournament.

“There are a lot of factors to bowl quick – diet, sleep, training. I am focusing a lot on my diet and recovery – ice bath,” he said. LSG skipper KL Rahul could not be more pleased for a cricketer who has shown great temperament to complement his thunderous pace.

After rattling Punjab Kings batters with pace on his IPL debut, the 21-year-old meted out similar treatment to RCB batters to end with a second straight three-wicket haul. Rahul is having a hard time keeping up with Mayank but he is not complaining. “One ball hit me really hard, so happy to see Mayank bowl the way he’s been bowling. He’s waited patiently for a year, he’s working really hard, he’s really professional, has a great temperament,” said Rahul at the post-match presentation. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis also gave due credit to Mayank.

“It is the new action you haven’t faced before, and if they have pace then you need time to get used to it. But his ability to control length and have accuracy is impressive.

“You need two guys to bat through and get a partnership which we were not able to do. We need the strong characters in the dressing room to put their hand up,” said du Plessis after RCB’s third loss in four games.

Following his stupendous performance during the West Indies tour to Australia, this will mark Joseph’s first stint in the iconic T20 tournament in India.

“Joseph will join LSG for Rs 3 Crore. The speedster was recently at the forefront during West Indies’ Test win at the Gabba. He picked 7 wickets in the 2nd innings to script a historic win in Australia for West Indies. This will be Joseph’s first stint in the IPL,” IPL stated in an official statement.

Earlier this week, the 24-year-old was nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award for January 2024. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the nominees.

During his Test debut, right-armer Joseph made an immediate impact, taking Australia batsman Steve Smith’s wicket with his first delivery.

Joseph scooped up four Australian wickets on his debut in Adelaide, finishing with fantastic numbers of 5-94. He followed this up with solid scores of 36 and 15 when he batted for his side at No. 11.

The star pacer delivered an even greater effort in the West Indies’ victory over Australia in the second Test in Brisbane, bowling 7-68 to help the Caribbean side win their first Test in Australia since 1997. He scored 57 runs at 28.50 in two Tests and grabbed 13 wickets at an impressive 17.30.

It sounds like Joseph’s cricket journey is taking some interesting turns! Despite the setback with the toe injury preventing him from playing for the Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 season, it’s promising that he’s attracting attention from teams like Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL. And it’s quite a testament to his potential that Daren Sammy sees him as a viable option for the West Indies T20 World Cup squad, especially considering his limited experience in T20 cricket so far. It’ll be exciting to see how Joseph continues to develop and whether he can make an impact on the international stage.
