    A BCCI source has been quoted as saying to Times of India that Iyer's injury is not looking good and is in danger of missing the first few games of IPL.

    “It is not looking good. It is the same back injury which has got aggravated. It is unlikely that he will take the field on Day 5 of the Ranji Trophy final. He is in danger of missing the initial matches of the IPL,” said the BCCI source.

    Not to forget, during his 95-run knock for Mumbai, Iyer took medical assistance twice as he was clearly uncomfortable. He did not take the field for Mumbai on Day 4 and likely to be missing on Day 5 as well due to the same injury.

    IPL 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders Name Phil Salt As Replacement For Jason Roy

    Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have roped in English wicketkeeper batter Phil Salt as the replacement for Jason Roy ahead of the Indian Premier League (2024).

    In a statement released by the IPL, it stated that Jason pulled himself out of the upcoming season of the T20 tournament due to “personal reasons”.

    The statement also added that the 2024 season will be Salt's second IPL after representing the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the previous year.

    “Kolkata Knight Riders have named Phil Salt as a replacement for Jason Roy after the latter pulled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024 owing to personal reasons. Having remained unsold in the auction after representing the Delhi Capitals last year, this will be Salt's second season. in the IPL.”

    It added that the Kolkata-based franchise bagged Salt for his reserve price of Rs 1.5 crore.

    “Bought at his reserve price of INR 1.5 crore, the aggressive wicket-keeper batter from England scored two consecutive T20I centuries against the West Indies in December last year. His 48-ball century in the 4th T20I at Trinidad is also the joint-fastest for England,” it added.

Kohli had reached out to Dhoni and his office, even his wife Sakshi, to offer him a contract but the former India captain refused to take the money. Dhoni could have signed a big contract with other bat manufacturing companies but he was hell bent on using BAS bats and without taking any money.

    “Dhoni did not mention any money. He just said ‘put your stickers on my bats and send them across’. I tried to convince him, ‘You’re letting go of such a lucrative contract’. He refused crores of rupees worth of contract. I requested his wife Sakshi, his father, mother. Even told his CA and Paramjit from Ranchi. They all went to his home before the World Cup. But he said ‘No… it is my decision’,” Mr. Kohli said in a video on Sports Launchpad YouTube channel.

Dhoni will be leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in what could be his last season in the tournament. Prime Sports is a shop in Ranchi run by a close friend of Dhoni. The CSK skipper played with Prime Sports sticker on the ball because he wanted to promote his friend’s local business. Later, Dhoni signed that bat and gifted his friend the same.

    Even the legendary Adam Gilchrist talked about the gesture by Dhoni while doing commentary during the second T20I between Australia and West Indies.
