  • J&K: Big Win For Security Forces, Three Terrorists Killed Including LeT Commander Usman In Kashmir Valley |

    The Security forces have neutralized three terrorists in two separate encounters in Kashmir Valley today, marking a major success in ongoing anti-terror operations. These encounters took place in Srinagar and Anantnag districts, where a substantial cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered.

    The first encounter began earlier today in the Khanyar area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. This marked the first major encounter in this densely populated downtown area in over two years.

    The slain terrorist, identified as LeT commander Usman of the Pakistani-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, was responsible for multiple attacks, including the killing of Inspector Masroor.

    “Today, we eliminated him,” said IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi in an exclusive conversation with Zee News. “The Jammu and Kashmir police received credible intelligence on his location, and after a cordon and search operation, a prolonged gunfight ensued, ending in Usman’s death. A significant quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered, though the area is still under search.”

    The operation faced challenges due to the densely populated surroundings, leading to a lengthy standoff. After nearly 10 hours, a controlled blast helped track Usman’s movements within the building, where he was ultimately neutralized.

    Meanwhile, the second encounter took place in the Kokernag Larnoo forest area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, where two additional terrorists were killed. Among them was Zahid, a local terrorist; the other terrorist’s identity is being verified. “This group was involved in the killing of a non-local vendor and a Territorial Army soldier, Hilal Ahmed, in South Kashmir,” IGP Birdi noted. “The operation was based on intelligence of terrorist activity in the area, and forces responded swiftly.”

    Security forces are continuing searches in Kokernag to ensure no other terrorists remain in the area. Reinforcements have been deployed to prevent any potential escapes.

    IGP Birdi also commented on an ongoing anti-terror operation in Bandipora, North Kashmir, where terrorists fired on security forces on Friday evening. Searches are still underway, with two bags believed to be linked to terrorist activities recovered from the area.

    These recent operations follow a surge in terrorist attacks across Kashmir, including incidents in Shopian, Tral, Gagengair, Gulmarg, and Budgam. On Friday evening, two non-local laborers were shot and injured in Budgam’s Mazhama area. With security forces on high alert, these latest actions demonstrate their commitment to ensuring peace and safety across the region.

  • J&K: Encounter Breaks Out Along LoC As Army, Infiltration Bid Foiled In URI |

    Jammu And Kashmir Encounter: An encounter broke out in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir after security forces opened fire on Sunday. The Army and J&K police foiled a possible infiltration bid after noticing suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector. 

    Speaking about the encounter, the Army’s Srinagar-headquartered Chinar Corps said that a joint anti-infiltration operation was launched by the Army and police based on intelligence inputs pertaining to a likely infiltration bid. 

    “Based on intelligence inputs regarding the likely infiltration bid, a joint anti-infiltration operation was launched by the Army and police along LoC in the general area of Uri, Baramulla. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Vigilant troops responded with effective fire. Operation is in progress,” the Chinar Corps said.

    Terrorists based in the Pakistan-occupied part of J&K (POJK) have been making several attempts to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir to disturb the prevailing peace after a largely people-participative Lok Sabha and Assembly elections ended without any terrorist attack to disrupt the democratic process.

    The terrorists, especially hardcore foreign mercenaries, have carried out several hit-and-run attacks on the Army, other security forces, and civilians in hilly districts of the Jammu division, including Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Udhampur, and Reasi districts.

    Over 4,000 trained commandos drawn from the elite Para commando force and those trained in mountain warfare have been deployed in the densely forested areas of these districts to prevent the terrorists from carrying out ambush attacks and then hiding in the difficult forest areas.

    Besides the deployment of the Army and the CRPF in these mountainous districts, police have also issued automatic weapons to the village defence committees (VDCs). The VDCs are groups of civilians trained to handle weapons to protect their villages and families from terrorists in remote, inaccessible areas of the Jammu division.

    On Thursday, terrorists killed a non-local Bihar resident identified as Ashok Chouhan in the Zainpora area of the Valley’s Shopian district. Following the incident, security forces launched a manhunt to trace the assassins. The attack was widely condemned by several people, including Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

  • India To Maintain Forward Post Deployment Against China During Winters As Differences Persists: Report |

    India and China recently agreed to pull back their forces from some points. However, the political-level talks and the military-level talks appear to be the two sides of a coin. According to a report, the Indian Army has decided to continue its forward post-deployment against China on key LAC points in Sikkim, eastern Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh for the fifth successive winter. India has so far avoided falling into China’s trap of the waiting game and maintaining its strategic troops deployment has deprived the PLA from making any further unjust advancements. 

    A Time of India report said that the Indian Army will go full-throttle with its troop deployment along the harsh LAC terrains as the ‘trust deficit’ on the border with PLA leadership remains high. The report said that while there are signs of narrowing differences at the political level, but the same is yet to have a trickle-down effect at the military levels.

    Why The Trust Deficit

    According to various recent reports and satellite images, China has continued to build permanent military infrastructure as well as bridges on its side of the LAC including in the Indian areas in its occupancy since 1962 and before. This has sent alarm bells ringing into the rank and files of the Indian defence establishment. The reports also claimed that China continues to deploy more forces on its forward military positions along the 3,488-km LAC. It shows that despite the political level talks, the PLA is not returning to its peacetime locations.

    According to the report, Indian Army General Upendra Dwivedi and the commanders-in-chief of the seven army commands will review the operational situation and preparedness along the LAC in the second week of October.

    What India Wants

    India is keeping a close eye on every development taking place on the Chinese side of the LAC. India feels that the first step of de-escalation will begin only if China disengages from the Depsang and Demchok points. Due to confrontations at Depsang and Demchok and the creation of buffer zones at  Galwan Valley, Pangong Tso-Kailash Range and Gogra-Hot Springs have resulted in a situation where Indian troops are not able to access 26 of their 65 patrolling points between Karakoram Pass in the north and Chumar in eastern Ladakh, reported TOI.

  • Terrorist Killed In Encounter With Security Forces In J&K’s Baramulla |

    At least a terrorist was killed on Saturday in an active encounter with security officials in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla, reported Zee news TV.  

    Security forces and terrorists engaged in an encounter in the Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday night, officials reported.  

    “Encounter has started at Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” the Kashmir Zone Police wrote in a post on X. 

    A joint team of police and army conducted a cordon and search operation in the area yesterday. When the forces approached the suspected location, the militants hiding there opened fire, prompting a retaliatory exchange of gunfire.

  • Major Success For Security Forces In J&K; Arms, War Like Stores Recovered In Kupwara |

    Jammu And Kashmir News: Security forces, in a joint operation on Wednesday, recovered a large cache of arms ammunition and explosives in the Keran Sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara. Acting upon specific intelligence inputs, the Indian Army and J&K Police launched a joint operation in the district. During the operation, the security forces recovered arms and ammunition, including AK  47 rounds, Hand Grenades, RPG rounds, and war-like stores.   

    The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps took to social media platform X and said, “Based on , a joint operation by the Indian Army and J&K Police was launched in the Keran Sector, Kupwara. Searches in the indicated area have led to the recovery of a very large cache of arms ammunition and explosives including AK 47 rounds, Hand Grenades, RPG rounds, material for Improvised Explosive Devices & other war-like stores. The recovery is significant considering the prevailing security situation and keeping important upcoming events in view & is a shot in the arm for the security forces.”

    Meanwhile, three terrorists were killed after an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists at the Kathua-Basantgarh border in Udhampur area on Wednesday. According to Public Relations Officer Defence Jammu, an operation was launched in Kathua based on specific intelligence and contact has been established at the Kathua-Basantgarh border with terrorists. The operation is under progress and details being ascertained, the PRO Defence said.

     

    Earlier in the day, the BSF said that one of its personnel sustained injuries after an unprovoked firing from Pakistan in the Akhnoor sector of J&K near the International Border in the early hours.

  • 2 Soldiers Killed, 3 Injured In Ongoing Encounter With Terrorists In J&K’s Anantnag |

    Two Indian Army soldiers were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, according to Defense officials. The soldiers sustained injuries during a clash with militants in the Kokernag region.

    During the exchange of fire, five army personnel were injured and promptly evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment. Both the army personnel succumbed to their injuries during the treatment.

    Two civilians have also been reported injured due to reckless firing by terrorists in the ongoing operation; the injured have been provided immediate medical aid and evacuated further, said Army officials.

    Earlier in the day encounter broke out in the Ahlan Gadole area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district this afternoon. The gunfight led to a heavy exchange of fire between the security forces and the militants. 

    The two soldiers were injured when terrorists targeted their patrol during an anti-terror operation in the forested area of Kokernag subdivision. Special forces and army paratroopers have been deployed in the ongoing operation to flush out the terrorists, who are believed to be foreign nationals. 

    In a post on social media platform ‘X’, the Indian army’s Chinar corps said, “Based on specific intelligence input, a Joint Operation was launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice & @crpf_srinagar today in general area Kokernag, Anantnag.     Today’s encounter marks the second major encounter in Kokernag within the past year. In September 2023, a Commanding Officer, a Major, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police were killed during a clash with terrorists in the Kokernag forest. Reinforcements have been dispatched to the area to flush out the terrorists, who are believed to be hiding in the Ahlan Gadole forests. 

  • Kerala Rain: Orange Alert Issued; At least 308 Dead In Wayanad Landslide | 10 Points |

    Wayanad Landslide: The India Meteorological Department of Kerala has issued an orange alert in the Wayanad district until Saturday, which has already been affected by landslides claiming over 308 lives till Friday morning. Kerala Health Minister Veena George shared the recent death toll as the search and rescue operations are underway in the past two days. 

    Due to forecasts of heavy rainfall, all educational institutions including schools, colleges, and tuition centers – across Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts will be closed on Friday, August 2.  

    Kerala Rain And Wayanad Landslide Update: 10 Points 


    An orange alert has been issued for four northern districts of Kerala, including Wayanad, due to anticipated weather conditions. In the southern regions, extending up to Pathanamthitta, a yellow alert has been issued. However, with a significant decrease in rainfall expected from tomorrow, yellow alerts will now apply solely to the northern districts of Kerala. 


    Following the landslides, the Indian Army has swiftly completed the construction of the Cl 24 Bailey Bridge. This bridge, which connects Chooralmala with Mundakkai across the Iruvanipzha River, is now open to traffic and has been officially handed over to the Civil Administration.


    As per reports, the Palakkad district collector has announced a holiday for schools, anganwadis, tuition centers, and madrassas on Friday. However, colleges and residential schools, such as Navodaya, are permitted to remain open in Palakkad.



    On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP, along with Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, visited the landslide site at Chooralmala in Wayanad. The sibling duo remains in Wayanad. 


    Speaking to the media, Rahul Gandhi described the situation in Wayanad as a grave tragedy, emphasizing the significant work needed in the area. He also remarked that it is inappropriate to politicize the issue, stressing that the primary focus should be on providing assistance to those in need.

  • Army Foils Infiltration Bid In Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch, Soldier Injured In Ongoing Encounter |

    A soldier sustained injuries as the Army successfully repelled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district early Tuesday, news agency PTI quoted officials as saying. “Alert troops countered an infiltration attempt by engaging the infiltrating terrorists with effective fire in the Battal sector around 0300 hours,” stated the White Knight Corps. “During the exchange of heavy fire, one braveheart has been injured. Operations are continuing,” they added.

    Sources report that a group of armed terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Battal forward area in the Krishnagati belt. However, vigilant troops detected their movement and responded promptly.

    The ongoing intense gunfight resulted in the terrorists being pushed back, but not without a soldier getting injured and subsequently hospitalized. It was also reported that the terrorists suffered losses. A search operation is currently underway in the region.

  • In A First, Two Sainik School Classmates To Be Chiefs Of Indian Army And Navy |

    For the first time in Indian military history, two classmates, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi and Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, will be service chiefs of Indian Army and Navy. Hailing from the Sainik School Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi and Army Chief Designate Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi were together in the school from class 5th-A in the early 1970s. The roll numbers of the two officers were also around each other, as Lt Gen Dwivedi’s roll number was 931 and Admiral Tripathi’s was 938.

    Their bonding was strong from the initial days in the school and they remained in touch all along, even though they were in different forces. A defence official who knows both the officers said that strong friendships among the senior leadership in the military matter a lot in strengthening the working relationship between the forces.

    “This rare honour of nurturing two prodigious students, who would go on to lead their respective Services 50 years later, goes to Sainik School, Rewa, in Madhya Pradesh,” Defence Ministry Spokesperson A Bharat Bhushan Babu said in a tweet.
    The appointments of the two classmates have also come around the same time, in a gap of around two months.

    Admiral took over the command of the Indian Navy on May 1, while Lt Gen Dwivedi would be taking over his new appointment tomorrow. Lt Gen Dwivedi has had a long tenure as the Northern Army Commander where he has had long exposure to the ongoing operations in the military standoff on the LAC in eastern Ladakh.

    Born on July 1, 1964, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi was commissioned into the Jammu & Kashmir Rifles of the Indian Army on December 15, 1984.

  • 3 Terror Attacks In 48 Hours: Reasi To Doda, Combing Operations Continue In Jammu and Kashmir; 1 CRPF Jawan Dead |

    In Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists attacks have intensified since June 9. While terrorists fired upon a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi on Sunday, two more attacks took place in Kathua and Doda. In the past 48 hours, there have been three terrorist incidents. On Tuesday, terrorists opened fire in the Kathua district of Jammu region, prompting the army to kill one terrorist in response. Additionally, terrorists attacked an army camp in the Chhatrakala area of Doda district. 

    Security forces have surrounded the terrorists in Kathua. One CRPF jawan of 121Bn who was injured in fresh contact with the militants succumbed to his injuries at Sub District Hospital, Hiranagar. ADGP Jammu has confirmed the killing of one terrorist, and the operation is ongoing. Earlier on Sunday, terrorists fired on a bus carrying pilgrims from Shiv Khodi Temple to Katra, resulting in the deaths of 9 people and injuries to 41 others.

    Following a terrorist attack in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday night, a gunfight ensued between security forces and terrorists. ADGP Anand Jain reported that terrorists opened fire on a joint checkpoint of the 4th National Rifles and police in the Chhatrakala area. Security personnel retaliated, initiating the ongoing gunfight.

    Earlier in the evening, terrorists attacked a village in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, where security forces killed a suspected Pakistani terrorist in an ensuing encounter. An extensive operation against the remaining hidden terrorists is underway. It is believed that these terrorists infiltrated from across the border. Three civilians were injured in the terrorist firing in Hiranagar.

    A police spokesperson stated that terrorists attacked the village of Saida Sukhal near Koota Morh in the Hiranagar sector. During the subsequent search operation, one terrorist was killed. The spokesperson mentioned that the operation is still ongoing. Officials recovered an AK rifle and a bag from the deceased terrorist, whose identity and group affiliation are being investigated.

    This incident in the Jammu region occurred shortly after terrorists fired on a 53-seater bus carrying pilgrims from Shiv Khori Temple to Katra in the Teryath village of Reasi district’s Pouni area on Sunday. The bus fell into a gorge after the attack, resulting in the deaths of 9 people and injuries to 41 others.
