  • ‘It’s A Big Setback’: Harbhajan Singh’s Blunt Remark After Hardik Pandya Was Removed As T20I Captain | cricket news

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh was shocked when Hardik Pandya was removed from the captaincy role of India’s T20I squad. When Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game, Hardik was set to replace him as a skipper as he was the deputy lead during the T20 World Cup success in June. But then, the BCCI picked Suryakumar Yadav as the skipper of the Indian T20I team.

“I was (surprised). Upto some extent, I was (disappointed). He was your vice-captain…when Rohit Sharma is not the captain, your vice-captain becomes the captain. But if you tell him on fitness ground that you will not be the captain – there’s no T20I cricket round the year,” Harbhajan told Sports Yaari.

“He came after winning the T20 World Cup and suddenly, it’s a big setback for him. It’s not right. I have great respect for Suryakumar Yadav. Phenomenal player, great guy…very selfless. Even he wouldn’t have though that This would happen,” he added.

Talking about India’s T20 squad for the Bangladesh series, the likes of Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been added to the side. Abhishek Sharma has also been picked in the side after missing out on Sri Lanka T20Is. The young guns Riyan Parag and Nitish Kumar Reddy are also set to show their finesse in the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh.

  • ‘Man With 9,000 Runs Shouldn’t Bat At No. 5’: Sunil Gavaskar Unhappy With India’s Tactics vs Bangladesh | cricket news

IND vs BAN: On Monday, the Indian cricket team produced a remarkable batting performance on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. With two full days of play washed out due to rain, India faced a time crunch to force a result. However, the Rohit Sharma-led side responded emphatically, first dismissing Bangladesh for 233 and then launching a powerful counterattack with the bat.

India declared their innings at 285 for 9 in just 34.4 overs, giving themselves a lead of 52 runs. This aggressive approach helped the team set records for the fastest 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 runs in the history of Test cricket. The performance put India in a strong position, needing just 95 runs to win the match and secure a 2-0 series victory.

While the day belonged to India’s bold batting and strategic declaration, former captain and now commentator Sunil Gavaskar expressed disappointment over the team’s decision to send Rishabh Pant ahead of Virat Kohli in the batting order.

After India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal as the second wicket, fans anticipated Kohli to take his usual No. 4 position in the line-up. However, to everyone’s surprise, India promoted Pant, leaving Kohli to bat at No. 5. Gavaskar, voicing his concern on JioCinema, questioned this move, particularly given Kohli’s stature as one of India’s finest Test batters.

Sunil Gavaskar Not Happy With India’s Batting Order

“You are talking about a man who has nearly 9,000 runs in Test cricket batting at No. 4,” said Gavaskar. His comment reflected a broader sentiment that Kohli, given his vast experience and success at No. 4, should not have been moved down the order in a critical match.

Pant, sent in with the intention of continuing India’s aggressive push, failed to make a substantial impact. He scored just 9 runs off 11 balls before being dismissed. Kohli, on the other hand, made his presence felt when he finally came to the crease, scoring a brisk 47 off 35 balls, including four boundaries and one six.

    Virat Kohli Creates Another Milestone

While Gavaskar’s critique sparked debate, Kohli continued to etch his name into the history books. On Monday, he became the fastest player to score 27,000 international runs, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Kohli reached the milestone in his 594th innings, beating Tendulkar’s mark of 623 innings. Only Kumar Sangakkara (648 innings) and Ricky Ponting (650 innings) have also crossed the 27,000-run mark in international cricket.

India On The Verge Of Victory

India’s declaration has put them in the driver’s seat. They need just 95 runs to win the second Test and seal the series. Led by excellent contributions from Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s bowling attack did well to restrict Bangladesh to 146 in their second innings. As India prepares for the final innings of the match, all eyes will be on how quickly they can chase down the target. With a strong batting line-up and momentum on their side, it seems only a matter of time before India clinches another dominant Test series win.

  • Team India Record Fastest 50, 100 And 200 During 2nd Test Against Bangladesh | cricket news

Indian batters went on a rampage to reset the world records for the fastest team 50, 100 and 200 in men’s Test cricket on the fourth day of the rain-affected second match against Bangladesh on Monday. Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered 10 fours and a six to make the fourth fastest fifty for any Indian batter from 31 balls and was dismissed for 72 (51 balls, 12x4s, 2x6s), after Rohit Sharma’s early fireworks (23 off 11 balls, 3x6s, 1x4s) .

The 50-run mark was breached in a mere 3 overs with the two Indian openers firing on all cylinders here at the Green Park on Monday. India thus broke England’s record of scoring the fastest team fifty in 4.2 overs which they had registered against the West Indies at Trent Bridge in July this year.

While Jaiswal continued with his aggressive approach, No. 3 Shubman Gill also joined in to punish the Bangladesh bowlers as India crossed the triple-figure mark in 10.1 overs, improving their own record.

India had recorded the fastest century for any team in terms of overs faced when they went past the 100-run mark in 12.2 overs against the West Indies at Port of Spain in 2023.

Indian opted for an all-out approach with the bat in reply to Bangladesh’s 233 all out in the first innings as KL Rahul’s 43-ball 68 and Virat Kohli’s brisk 47 later on helped them breach the 200-run mark in a mere 24.2 overs, which is the quickest for any team yet.

India broke Australia’s record for the fastest 200, who had set it against Pakistan during the Sydney Test in 2017.

India eventually declared their innings at the fall of the penultimate wicket, at 285 for nine from only 34.4 overs, having scored their runs at 8.22 per over. Only 35 overs’ play was possible on the first three days of this final Test due to persistent rains and ground conditions.

  • IND vs BAN: Jasprit Bumrah’s Lethal Delivery Shatters Mushfiqur Rahim’s Stumps- WATCH | cricket news

IND vs BAN: After two consecutive days of rain and a wet outfield washed out play in Kanpur, Day 4 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh finally saw some action. Jasprit Bumrah, India’s go-to man in critical moments, delivered the first blow on Monday, removing Mushfiqur Rahim early in the third over of the day.

Rahim was caught off guard by one of Bumrah’s signature deliveries. Misjudging it as an outswinger, Rahim decided to leave it, only to hear the sound of the ball crashing into his stumps. The stunned batsman had no choice but to walk back to the pavilion, leaving Bangladesh reeling.

It was Bumrah’s first wicket of the match, following up on earlier contributions from Akash Deep and Ravichandran Ashwin, who took two and one wickets, respectively, before the rain interruptions. Bumrah’s breakthrough not only lifted India but set the tone for further incredible fielding displays.

Two sensational catches followed Bumrah’s strike. Rohit Sharma pulled off a brilliant effort at slip to dismiss Litton Das off Mohammed Siraj’s bowling, and Siraj himself took an even more spectacular diving catch to send Shakib Al Hasan packing.

Bangladesh, who were 107-3 at the start of play with Mominul Haque unbeaten on 40 and Mushfiqur Rahim on six, crumbled under pressure, though Mominul stood firm. By lunch, Bangladesh’s score had reached 205/6, with Mominul still fighting with a well-deserved century to his name.

The fourth day finally brought some excitement to what has otherwise been a rain-hit Test, with India now looking to push for a result. Fans and pundits on social media have been raving about the incredible catches and the unplayable delivery from Bumrah, with clips of the action quickly going viral. After a frustrating wait, the match is now wide open.
