The Indian team got whitewashed by New Zealand by 26 runs in the third Test a final test that was played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (November 3). On the back of this win, the Blackcaps became the first team in history to clean-sweep India in a three-match Test series on their soil. For Rohit Sharma’s team, this series loss is a huge setback as their chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final are bleak.

The Indian team moved to second spot in the WTC 2023-25 points table. Team India now has 58.33 PCT% while Australia who holds the first position has 62.50 PCT%. The island nation Sri Lanka has 55.56 PCT% and they are standing third on the table. The Blackcaps after defeating India have moved to 4th position with 54.54 PCT%.

In order to make way for the WTC final, the Indian team will have to win four of their remaining five Tests against Australia.

The Indian team will leave for Australia to take part in a five-match Test series next week. The 2024-25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will take place from November 22 in Perth. The Indian team has won the last two editions of Border-Gavaskar in Australia.

Talking about the WTC finals, the Indians took part in the 2021 and 2023 WTC finals, but then they lost on both occasions. Team India played against New Zealand in the 2021 WTC final where they lost the game by 8 wickets in Southampton, while in 2023, Australia outplayed India by 209 runs.

  • Sachin Tendulkar Reacts To NZ’s Historic Test Series Win In India | cricket news

Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Tom Latham-led New Zealand for a historic Test series win in India on Saturday, and gave a special mention to Mitchell Santner. Tom Latham’s New Zealand team made history by defeating Rohit’s side by 113 runs in the second Test match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Saturday, clinching their first-ever series win in India.

This loss marks India’s first home Test series defeat since 2012, ending an 18-series winning streak–the longest home winning sequence for any team. New Zealand now lead the three-match Test series 2-0, with the final game set for November 1 at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium.

Taking to his official X handle, Tendulkar said that it’s a dream for any visiting team to win a Test series in India. The legendary cricketer praised the Kiwis for playing well against the Rohit Sharma-led side and achieving the milestone.

The 51-year-old gave special praise to Santner for picking up 13 wickets in the Pune Test. (Blame Game In Indian Camp After Series Loss In IND vs NZ 2nd Test; Ex-World Cup Winner Questions Pune Pitch)

“For any visiting team, to win a Test series in India is a dream, and New Zealand have played really well to make it happen. Such results can only be achieved with good, all-round team efforts. Special mention to Santner for his Standout performance, picking up 13 wickets. Congratulations to New Zealand on this phenomenal achievement,” Tendulkar wrote on X.

In the match, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat. Half-centuries from Devon Conway (76 off 141 balls, with 11 fours) and Rachin Ravindra (65 off 105 balls, with five fours and a six) placed New Zealand in a commanding position at 197/3, with Ravichandran Ashwin (3/ 41) Being the only bowler to make an early impact. After Conway’s dismissal, Washington Sundar (7/59) exploited the momentum, dismissing the remaining batsmen to bowl New Zealand out for 259.

India faced the task of overcoming this modest total to gain a substantial lead. However, after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal for a duck, youngsters Shubman Gill (30 off 72 balls, with two fours and a six) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (30 off 60 balls, with four boundaries) could only manage a partnership of 49 runs. Similar to the first innings, Gill’s dismissal opened the doors for Mitchell Santner, who wreaked havoc on the Indian lineup. Santner (7/53) and Glenn Phillips (2/26) bowled India out for just 156, with Ravindra Jadeja top-scoring with 38 off 46 balls (three fours and two sixes).

In their second innings, New Zealand capitalized on their 103-run lead. With a valuable 86 from skipper Tom Latham (133 balls, 10 fours), along with contributions from Phillips (48 off 82 balls, four boundaries, two sixes) and Tom Blundell (41 off 83 balls, three fours), the visitors set India. a target of 359 runs, bowled out for 255 after impressive bowling in the first session of day three. Sundar (4/56) led the attack, with Jadeja (3/72) and Ashwin (2/97) sweeping through the lower-middle order and tail.

Chasing 359, India started strongly with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who shared a 62-run partnership with Shubman Gill (23 off 31 balls, four boundaries). However, after Jaiswal’s dismissal for 77 off 65 balls (nine fours, three sixes), India couldn’t recover, succumbing to the Kiwi spinners and being bowled out for 245, resulting in a 113-run defeat. This series loss marks India’s first home series defeat in 12 years.

Santner, with a remarkable 13 wickets in the match (6/104 in the second innings), emerged as the star of the game, with Phillips and Ajaz Patel chipping in to wrap up the Test two days early.

  • Festivals, Agriculture, Elections Set To Boost India’s Oil Demand: S&P Global Commodity Insights | Economy News

New Delhi: Demand for oil products in India through the October-December quarter is expected to get a boost from festivals, agricultural activities, recovering from a few months of subdued consumption because of excessive rains, according to S&P Global Commodity Insights.

According to the commodities information services provider, India’s oil demand decreased in September on a yearly basis, due to above normal rainfall, which affected road movement, construction, and mining activities.

“Looking ahead to Q4, we estimate India’s oil demand to grow by 3.5-4 per cent year over year. We forecast an annual demand increase of 50,000-55,000 b/d for both gasoline and diesel in Q4, although the northeast monsoon rains may slightly impede demand,” said Himi Srivastava, South Asia oil analyst at S&P Global Commodity Insights.

The monsoon season, typically running from June to September, was 8 per cent above the long-term average in 2024, according to state-run weather office India Meteorological Department. The southwest monsoon withdrew in mid-October, while the northeast monsoon began five days before date.

“This (heavy monsoon) particularly dampened diesel demand, which fell nearly 2 per cent compared to the previous year. However, gasoline demand remained resilient, growing by 3 per cent year over year, although it was down from the previous month,” Srivastava said. Elections in states like Maharashtra and Jharkhand are also expected to boost transportation fuel demand, it said.

Additionally, the marriage season from November to January typically results in increased automobile sales and goods movement, further pushing up fuel demand, added Srivastava. India meets about 85 per cent of its crude oil demand through imports.

Lately, there has been a considerable volatility in global crude oil prices, primarily due to the ongoing geopolitical conflicts. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas earlier this week said that there is no shortage of oil in the world and prices will come down soon, answering the question of the recent upswing in crude oil prices.

Speaking to the media, the Union Minister cited global factors such as the war in the Middle East and voluntary cuts in oil production which are influencing the oil prices in the global market.

  • Afghanistan A Stuns India A By 20 Runs In The Semis, Advances To ACC Emerging Asia Cup Final | cricket news

A brilliant all-round performance by Afghanistan A guided them to the final of the ongoing ACC Emerging Asia Cup as they defeated India A by 20 runs at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1) on Friday.

Afghanistan A will now face Sri Lanka A in the final of the competition on Sunday at the same ground. Chasing a mammoth total of 207 runs, the Tilak Varma-led side was reduced to just 186 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs.

The highest scorer for the side was Ramandeeop Singh who scored 64 runs off just 34 balls which was laced with eight boundaries and two maximums in his innings.

Ayush Badoni (31 runs off 24 balls, with 2 fours and 1 six), Nishant Sindhu (23 runs from 13 balls, with three fours), and Nehal Wadhera (20 runs in 14 balls, with three fours and a six) scored valuable knocks but they were not enough as their side ended up on the losing side.

For the Afghanistan side, two wickets each were snapped by Allah Ghazanfar and Abdul Rahman in their spells where they conceded 14 and 32 runs respectively. One wicket was bagged by Sharafuddin Ashraf in his spell of two overs where he gave away 13 runs.

Earlier in the day, Afghanistan A skipper Darwish Rasooli won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, the Afghanistan side scored 206 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs.

The highest scorer for the side was Sediquallah Atal who scored 83 runs off 52 balls with the help of seven fours and four sixes in his innings. Zubaid Akbari also scored a valuable fifty for his team. He went back to the pavilion after scoring 64 runs from 41 balls which included five boundaries and four maximums in his innings.

Brief Score: Afghanistan A 206/4 in 20 overs (Sediquallah Atal 83, Zubaid Akbari 64, Rasikh Salam 3/25) vs India A 186/7 in 20 overs (Ramandeep Singh 64, Ayush Badoni 31, Allah Ghazanfar 2/14) .

  • India’s M&A Deal Value Surges 66 Per Cent In 2024, Outpacing Global Deal Of Worth USD 1.6 Trillion | Economy News

New Delhi: Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deals in the first nine months of the year surged by 66 per cent in value terms compared to the same period in 2023, signalling a revival in deal sentiment, according to a report by Boston Consulting Group.

However, deal volumes in India saw a marginal decline of 3 per cent, though this was not as sharp as the 13 per cent decline observed in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

In the 21st edition of the Global M&A Report, the consulting firm noted that global deal value in the first nine months of 2024 increased by 10 per cent compared to the same period last year, reaching USD 1.6 trillion. The report highlighted that M&A activity in India has been strong in 2024, bucking the trend seen in other Asia-Pacific markets.

This performance marks a reversal of the sharp decline in deal-making that India experienced from mid-2022 through 2023.”While the global M&A market is on the road to recovery with a modest 10 per cent increase in deal value this year, India is outpacing the global trend, showcasing a remarkable 66 per cent surge in M&A activity in 2024.

This growth contrasts sharply with the broader Asia-Pacific market, which saw a 5 per cent decline, underscoring India’s unique resilience and appeal. Key drivers of large deals have been sectors such as technology, media, industrials, and healthcare, leveraging the ‘Make in India’ initiative, India’s strengthening ties with the US and Europe, and ongoing regulatory tensions between China and the West.

“Sector-wise, technology, media, and telecommunications accounted for 40 per cent of total deal value in the first nine months of 2024. Despite cautious global sentiment, industrial companies continue to lead deal-making in India this year.Healthcare targets also remain a significant focus, primarily driven by domestic deals as companies strive to maintain their leadership positions.”

As we look ahead, the longer-term outlook for deal-making in India remains strong. Companies with healthy balance sheets will continue to seek inorganic growth opportunities, while private equity and venture capital investors will aim to deploy record-high dry powder, as India continues to be a preferred investment destination,” said Dhruv Shah, Managing Director and Partner at BCG.

The report also highlighted that increased regulatory scrutiny and protectionist measures in some countries are impacting deal-making. Globally, the time from signing to closing for deals exceeding USD 2 billion increased by 11 per cent from 2018 to 2022, reaching an average of 191 days.

BCG’s analysis found that approximately 40 per cent of deals studied failed to close within the originally projected timeline. Nearly two-thirds of these delayed deals required an additional three months or more to close.

  • Canada To Be Next Pakistan? Justin Trudeau’s Khalistan-Appeasement Policy May Do That | Analysis India News

It’s well known that Pakistan supported and nurtured terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) to use them against India. Such was Pakistan’s love for them that it not only funded these terrorist organizations but turned its soil into a safe haven for them. Today, there are many active terrorists organizations in Pakistan which have endangered the Islamic Republic’s security putting their people’s lives in danger. There is a saying – ‘You reap what you sow’. This is what is happening with Pakistan but it’s yet to realize its mistake and continues to sponsor terrorism against India.

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau is also committing similar mistakes by harboring the pro-Khalistani elements for petty electoral gains. Trudeau’s party – the Liberal Party of Canada – is fast losing support among Canadian voters and thus, Trudeau is looking to appease the Sikh population who are around seven lakhs.

The Canadian government has accused India of using the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to target pro-Khalistani elements. However, it has failed to give any hard proof for the allegations so far.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs has issued a strong response to the Canadian government’s allegations, stating that while the Trudeau government is accusing India by mentioning Lawrence Bishnoi, it has shown leniency toward criminals associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. India has sent 26 extradition requests to the Canadian government, but no action has been taken. Furthermore, India has also appealed in 29 cases where wanted criminals should have been arrested, but Canada has failed to act on those as well.

Surprisingly, Canada is ready to sacrifice its diplomatic relations with India for Khalistani terrorists. These terrorists often carry out large protests across Canada against India and have attacked Hindu temples across the country and even in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia in the past. The protest by Khalistani terrorists often create chaos and lead to a security situation. However, despite the fact, that Canada is harboring these declared terrorists for petty gains.

Canada’s determination to sever diplomatic ties over the issue of Khalistani terrorists reflects that Justin Trudeau’s policies are purely driven by vote-bank politics. In an effort to appease certain groups, Trudeau has once again targeted India. While Trudeau claims to prioritize public safety, the actions of his government tell a different story. Here’s a significant piece of evidence: On May 17, 2024, Zee News requested data from the Canadian government regarding the entry of Khalistani terrorists into Canada, and the Canadian government shared shocking data.

In 2021, 141 individuals with ties to Khalistani terrorism sought asylum in Canada, and 36 of them were granted entry. In 2022, the number of such applicants increased to 801, with 428 receiving approval. In 2023, 618 applications were submitted, explicitly stating support for Khalistani terrorism, and 364 individuals were allowed entry. By March 2024, 119 applications were submitted, and Canada approved the entry of 78 people with connections to Khalistani terrorism.

This data highlights Trudeau’s policies of appeasement, raising serious questions about the government’s commitment to public safety while allowing individuals with terrorist links into the country. Justin Trudeau is arguing for the security of Khalistani terrorists in his country but by sheltering Khalistani terrorists, he is posing a threat to India’s security. These statistics expose the double standards of the Canadian Prime Minister.

Trudeau has also failed to understand that the Khalistani terrorists and Lawrence Bishnoi gang members have deep connections with Pakistani terrorist organizations. Sooner or later, if Trudeau fails to put a leash on them and cooperate with India over New Delhi’s extradition requests, it is only going to create internal anarchy for Canada. Meanwhile, Canadians can only hope Trudeau will return to his senses in time, else, the day is not far when Canada will turn into another Pakistan by becoming a home to multiple terror organizations.

  • New Zealand Thrash India By 8 Wickets, End 36 Year Drought With Historic Win | cricket news

IND vs NZ: A fine bowling performance from Matt Henry and William O’Rourke, coupled with brilliant batting from Rachin Ravindra, helped New Zealand secure an eight-wicket victory over a resilient Indian side in the first Test at Bengaluru on Sunday. This is the Kiwis’ first win in India in over 36 years, since 1988. With this victory, they lead the three-match series 1-0. Chasing 107 runs, New Zealand had a shaky start as Jasprit Bumrah dismissed skipper Tom Latham for a duck on the second ball of the innings. The Kiwis were 0/1 in 1 over.

Will Young and Devon Conway began to build a partnership for New Zealand. However, Bumrah struck again, trapping Conway leg-before-wicket for 17, leaving New Zealand at 35/2 in 12.3 overs.

New Zealand reached the 50-run mark in 13.4 overs. Young was joined by Rachin Ravindra, and together they took New Zealand to the 100-run mark in 26.3 overs.

New Zealand reached the target, finishing at 110/2 in 27.4 overs, with Young unbeaten on 48 (76 balls, seven fours, and one six) and Ravindra on 39* (46 balls, six fours). Bumrah (2/29) was the only wicket-taker for India.

Earlier, India had taken a 106-run lead in the second innings, scoring 462/10 in response to New Zealand’s total of 402/10 in the first innings. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (35 from 52 balls, with six fours) and skipper Rohit Sharma (52 from 63 balls, with eight fours and a six) gave India a solid start with a 72-run opening stand.

Sarfaraz Khan then took charge, first forming a 136-run partnership with Virat Kohli (70 from 102 balls, with eight fours and a six) and later a 177-run stand with Rishabh Pant (99 from 105 balls, with nine fours and five sixes) to put India in the lead. However, the introduction of the new ball saw India lose seven wickets for just 54 runs, with the middle order failing to contribute significantly.

William O’Rourke (3/92) and Matt Henry (3/102) took full advantage of the new ball, dismantling the Indian batting line-up just when a massive lead seemed likely. Spinner Ajaz Patel took two wickets, while Glenn Phillips and Tim Southee chipped in with one each.

In their first innings, New Zealand posted 402 in response to India’s 356. A magnificent century from Rachin Ravindra (134 from 157 balls, with 13 fours and four sixes) and a quickfire 65 from Southee (73 balls, eight fours, and four sixes ) helped lift New Zealand from 233/7 to 402, thanks to a 137-run stand for the eighth wicket. Devon Conway (91 from 105 balls, with 11 fours and three sixes) also made a valuable contribution at the top.

Ravindra Jadeja (3/72) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/99) bowled well for India, while Mohammed Siraj picked up two wickets, and Ravichandran Ashwin and Bumrah took one each. Earlier, after electing to bat, India had a nightmare start under overcast, pace-friendly conditions. Henry (5/15) and O’Rourke (4/22) ran through the Indian batting order, bundling them out for just 46 runs in 31.2 overs. Only Jaiswal (13) and Pant (20) managed to reach double figures.

Brief Scores: India: 46 and 462 (Sarfaraz Khan 150, Rishabh Pant 99, William O’Rourke 3/92) lost to New Zealand: 402 and 110/2 (Will Young 48*, Rachin Ravindra 39*, Jasprit Bumrah 2/ 29).

  • IND vs NZ: Sarfaraz Khan Registers Maiden Test Hundred, Leads India’s Charge | cricket news

IND vs NZ: Sarfaraz Khan scored his maiden international century during the first Test between India and New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. The 26-year-old took just 110 balls to reach the milestone, showcasing his aggressive intent with 13 boundaries and three towering sixes.

Sarfaraz, who replaced Shubman Gill in the playing XI due to Gill’s stiff neck, finally made his mark on the international stage after seven innings in Test cricket. His maiden century was especially remarkable given his dismissal for a duck in the first innings of this match. This achievement also marked the 22nd instance of an Indian player scoring both a duck and a century in the same Test match.

After India’s openers fell quickly in the second innings, Sarfaraz formed a crucial partnership with Virat Kohli, adding over 100 runs for the third wicket. His innings was vital in India’s efforts to take the lead, as they continued to push towards a dominant position in the match.

Sarfaraz’s domestic form has been exceptional. Just earlier this month, he hammered a double century for Mumbai in the Irani Cup against Rest of India. His First-Class record has been equally impressive, with 15 centuries under his belt, and he has gained a reputation for turning his hundreds into massive scores. In fact, he has converted 10 of those 15 centuries into 150-plus innings, including four double hundreds.

With an astonishing First-Class average of 69.56, the highest among active cricketers, Sarfaraz’s domestic success has now translated to the international arena. His highest First-Class score of 301 not out, achieved for Mumbai in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy against his former team Uttar Pradesh, further illustrates his potential for big scores.

Sarfaraz’s international debut earlier this year against England saw him start with twin half-centuries in Rajkot and another fifty in Dharamsala, helping India clinch the series 3-1. His Test century against New Zealand now solidifies his place in India’s batting lineup as a future star.

Sarfaraz Khan’s performance in this match signals the beginning of what could be a long and fruitful career for India. His consistency in domestic cricket is now translating into key contributions at the highest level, and India will surely count on him as a critical player in the years to come.

  • India Hits Back At Justin Trudeau Govt, Indicts Canada Border Police Official In Terror Case |

India-Canada Row: Justin Trudeau-led Canadian government has made false accusations against Indian diplomats by connecting them to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In response, India’s Ministry of External Affairs strongly rebuked Canada, stating that while the Trudeau government accuses India of using Lawrence Bishnoi’s name, it has shown leniency toward criminals associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The MEA said that India has sent 26 extradition requests to the Canada government, but no action has been taken. Furthermore, India has also appealed in 29 cases where wanted criminals should have been arrested, yet Canada has not acted on those either. In fact, one of the 26 extradition requests includes Canada’s border police – Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) – official Sandeep Singh Sidhu.

As per media reports, Sidhu, an employee of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and a member of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), has been implicated in promoting terrorist activities in Punjab. Sidhu was allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode and other ISI operatives to orchestrate the assassination of Balwinder Singh Sandhu in 2020. Sandhu, renowned for his battle against Khalistani militants during Punjab’s decade of insurgency, became a symbol of resistance to the separatist movement.

While Canada tried to put the blame on India for political gain, the rejection of New Delhi’s extradition requests clearly indicates that Justin Trudeau’s government made false accusations against Indian diplomats.

According to several experts, Trudeau’s compulsion to appease Khalistani terrorists for vote bank politics is the reason behind his baseless accusation that India was involved in the killing of terrorist Hardeep Nijjar. There are over seven lakh Sikhs residing in Canada and the majority of them are voters of the North American country. While Khalistanis may be celebrating Trudeau’s conflict with India, Canadian citizens are beginning to question the narrative surrounding Hardeep Nijjar.

A Canadian opposition leader has accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of using Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s murder to divert attention from other controversies and asked the government to posthumously take away the Khalistani militant’s citizenship to right the past administrative error. Maxime Bernier, the leader of the People’s Party of Canada, also said the Khalistani militant who is the central figure in the whole controversy was a foreign terrorist who was somehow granted citizenship in 2007, instead of deportation.
