  • Naseem Shah In Tears After Pakistan Loss, Rohit Sharma Wins Hearts With Heartfelt Gesture | Cricket News

The Group A match between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024 proved to be an absolute thriller as India were only able to set a target of 120 runs for the Pakistan players to chase in 20 overs. The bowlers for both teams stepped up and the Indian bowlers were able to stop Pakistan from succesfully chasing the target in the biggest cricket rivalry. Magnificent bowling performances from Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya were enough to wrap up the Pakistani batting at a score of 113. Fans witnessed a late batting cameo by Pakistani bowler Naseem Shah who scored 10 runs off just 4 balls but could not get his nation over the line.

After India picked up the win, Naseem Shah broke down into tears and could not control his emotions. The Pakistani star has been seen crying in several videos that have surfaced on social media with his fellow teammate Shaheen Afridi consoling him.

    Rohit Sharma Wins Hearts

Babar Azam Gives Statement On Pakistan Loss

Pakistan captain Babar Azam bashed the batters of his team and praised the bowlers after Pakistan’s loss to India. He blamed the batters for wasting too many balls while trying to chase the subpar score of 120.

“We bowled well. In the batting, lost back to back wickets and had too much dot balls. Tactics was simple to play normally. Just strike rotation and the odd boundary. But in that period we had too many dot balls. Can’t expect much from tailenders. Our mind was to utilise first six overs in batting. But one wicket down, and again we weren’t up to the mark in first six. Pitch looked decent. Ball was coming on nicely. It was a little bit slow, and some balls extra bounce. Have to win last two matches. Will sit and discuss our mistakes but looking forward to last two matches,” Babar said in the post match press conference.

  • WATCH: Mohammad Rizwan Screams In Pain As Mohammed Siraj Hits Him With An Aggressive Throw | Cricket News

India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj left Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan in noticeable pain after an unfortunate incident involving a throw aimed at the stumps. Rizwan had driven a full delivery straight back at Siraj, who collected the ball during his follow-through and attempted a direct hit to try and run out the wicketkeeper-batter. However, instead of hitting the stumps, Siraj’s throw struck Rizwan’s hand, causing the ball to deflect toward fine leg.

Despite the evident pain, Rizwan saw an opportunity to steal a single and took it. Siraj, realizing his mistake, quickly offered his apologies, and the two cricketers shared a moment of sportsmanship by hugging it out. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf’s three-wicket hauls helped Pakistan restrict India to 119 in the high-voltage match of the T20 World Cup at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday.

Pakistan came with a strong bowling attack giving Indian batters little room to go for their shorts. After winning the toss Babar Azam-led Pakistan asked India to bat first. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma opened for the Men in Blue and Shaheen Afridi started the attack for Pakistan.

Rohit stunned the Pakistani pacer in the first over as he slammed a six over the deep square leg. India had a great start to the match as they ended the first over with 8/0 on the scoreboard.

The game was stopped as rain played a spoilsport after the first six balls. After the game resumed, Kohli slammed a four towards the covers. However, the Indian talisman batter’s knock had to come to an end after Naseem Shah removed Kohli in the third ball of the second over for four runs. Rishabh Pant replaced Kohli on the crease.

After Kohli’s dismissal, India lost their momentum as in the third over Afridi removed Men in Blue skipper Rohit Sharma for 13 runs. Axar Patel replaced Rohit on the crease. Mohammad Amir came for Pakistan in the fourth over and gave only four runs. The pair of Pant and Axar found it hard to score runs against Amir.

In the second ball of the sixth over, Usman Khan dropped Pant’s catch on the covers. Amir gave 12 runs in the last over of the powerplay. India reached the 50-run mark after the end of the powerplay.

After playing a few risky shots, Pant played a stunning shot over bowlers head for four in the seventh over. Naseem Shah bagged his second wicket after he removed Axar Patel for 20 runs in the fourth ball of the eighth over. The Pakistani bowler was successful in breaking the 39-run partnership of Axar and Pant.

Suryakumar Yadav replaced Axar on crease. Soon after coming on the pitch, Suryakumar pressed the ball forward for a four. The Men in Green continued display a sluggish performance with their field as Usman Khan missed Pant’s catch over the mid-wicket. The India wicketkeeper-batter continued to test his luck.

Pant dominated Haris Rauf in the 10th over as he smashed two fours in consecutive balls. Rauf gave away 13 runs in the 10th over. India stood at 81/3 in the midway of the first innings. Haris Rauf bagged his first wicket of the match after he removed Suryakumar Yadav for seven runs in the second ball of the 12th over.

Shivam Dube replaced Suryakumar on the crease. Dube failed to make a mark in his first match against Pakistan as Naseem Shah removed the allrounder for just three runs in the second ball of the 14th over. Hardik Pandya replaced Dube.

Mohammad Amir removed dangerous Rishabh Pant from the crease in the first ball of the 15th over. Babar Azam took his catch from mid-off. Pant was replaced by Ravindra Jadeja on the crease.

In the second ball of the 15th over, Amir removed Jadeja after the Indian all-rounder placed the ball on the short cover and Imad Wasim made no mistake to take the catch. Amir was on a hattrick but Arshdeep Singh managed to negate it.

The 15th over was crucial as Pakistan made a comeback in the game after bagging two wickets. Amir gave only one run in the over as India struggled to cross the 100-run mark. Hardik Pandya failed to make a mark again as he was removed by Haris Rauf for seven runs in the fourth ball of the 18th over. Bumrah replaced Hardik but the star India pacer was removed by Haris in the sixth ball of the 18th over.

Arshdeep Singh was removed from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the last ball of the 19th over and India could score 119 runs. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf were the top bowlers for Pakistan. Mohammad Amir bagged two wickets in his four-over spell and Shaheen Afridi took one wicket. Brief score: India 119 (Rishabh Pant 42, Axar Patel 20, Rohit Sharma 13; Haris Rauf 3/21) vs Pakistan. The anticipation is palpable as India and Pakistan, cricket’s most storied rivals, are set to clash in the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday. As fans from both nations gear up for this marquee match, there is an air of uncertainty hovering over the event—not due to the players, but the weather forecast.

    High Stakes and High Emotions

India comes into this high-voltage encounter riding a wave of confidence after a convincing eight-wicket win over Ireland. Led by the astute Rohit Sharma, the team has shown formidable form, with both bat and ball performing admirably. Pakistan, on the other hand, is nursing its wounds after a shocking super-over loss to the USA. This defeat has added an extra edge to the contest, with Babar Azam’s men eager to bounce back and prove their mettle.

Weather Woes: A Cloud Over the Clash

However, the real question on everyone’s mind is: Will the weather allow a full game to be played? According to AccuWeather, there is a significant chance of rain in New York on Sunday. The forecast predicts a 51% chance of rain at 11 AM local time (8:30 PM IST), just half an hour after the match is scheduled to start.

This potential downpour could throw a wrench into the proceedings, threatening to dampen the spirits of millions of fans eagerly awaiting this clash. The T20 format, known for its brevity and excitement, often sees weather playing a crucial role, and the current scenario in New York is no different. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has prepared for such eventualities, with extra time likely to be allotted if rain causes interruptions.

    Pitch Conditions and Player Preparations

The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium is hosting its first major cricket tournament, and the pitch has been a topic of much discussion. India’s win against Ireland saw the pitch favoring bowlers with its uneven and slow outfield. The ground staff is reportedly working overtime to ensure a more consistent playing surface for this high-profile match.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who sustained a thumb injury during a net session, has resumed practice after receiving medical attention. His quick recovery and return to the nets are a testament to his resilience and importance to the team’s fortunes.

    Tactical Battles and Key Players

India holds a historical edge over Pakistan in T20 World Cups, winning six out of seven encounters. Yet, Pakistan cannot be underestimated, especially with players like Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam capable of turning the game on its head. For India, the spotlight will be on Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, whose performances could be pivotal in navigating the team through this high-pressure game.

Fan Expectations and Cricket’s Biggest Rivalry

The India-Pakistan cricket rivalry is not just a game; it’s a spectacle that transcends boundaries, stirring emotions and bringing fans to the edge of their seats. This match is no different, promising high-octane drama and fierce competition. Despite the looming threat of rain, fans remain hopeful for a thrilling encounter.

  • Babar Azam furious after Haris Rauf concedes last ball boundary against USA in T20 World Cup 2024- WATCH | Cricket News

Pakistan suffered a shocking defeat to the USA in their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas. This loss has put Pakistan’s campaign in jeopardy, significantly reducing their chances of reaching the Super 8s. Babar Azam was visibly upset with fast bowler Haris Rauf after he gave up 11 runs in the last three balls, forcing a Super Over in Dallas. Despite starting well, Rauf failed to defend 14 runs in the final over of the second innings. Babar Azam stormed off the field, expressing his frustration verbally, as Pakistan failed to defend 159 runs against the USA, who are playing their first T20 World Cup.

The Pakistan team struggled in the first 10 overs with the ball, putting pressure on themselves. However, the fast bowlers made a strong comeback in the second half, with wickets from Haris Rauf and Mohammed Amir keeping Pakistan in the game. Rauf, who had been bowling well, came to defend 15 runs in the final over but ended up giving away 14 runs, leading to the Super Over at the Grand Prairie Stadium.

Babar Azam’s frustration continued in the Super Over as Mohammed Amir gave up 18 runs against relatively unknown batters. Amir bowled multiple wide balls and overthrows, adding easy runs to the USA’s total. In the end, Pakistan failed to chase down the 19-run target in the Super Over, leading to one of the biggest upsets in T20 World Cup history.

    Pakistan’s Big Game Against India

Pakistan is in trouble after losing to the USA. Their next game against India will be almost like a knockout match. It will take place at Nassau County Stadium in New York on Sunday, June 9. Historically, Pakistan has struggled against India in T20 World Cups, losing six out of seven matches. However, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, remains optimistic, saying the outcome will depend on which team stays composed.

  • Pakistan’s T20 Campaign Derailed After Loss to USA: Here’s How PAK Can Still Qualify for Super 8 – All Scenarios Explained | Cricket News

Pakistan suffered a shocking defeat to the USA in their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas. This loss has put Pakistan’s campaign in jeopardy, significantly reducing their chances of reaching the Super 8s. Coming into the World Cup with a shaky form—having lost two games to a second-string New Zealand, one T20I to Ireland, and a T20I series to England—Pakistan was expected to perform well in conditions favorable to fast bowlers. However, the USA displayed grit and determination, outplaying Pakistan in all departments to stun the 2022 runners-up.

    Pakistan’s Road To Qualification

To keep their hopes alive, Pakistan must win their next three matches. A crucial game against India is scheduled for June 9, and a victory is essential for Pakistan to have a realistic chance of advancing. Additionally, Pakistan needs to defeat both Canada and Ireland to bolster their qualification prospects.

If Pakistan loses to India, their chances become slim, even with wins against Canada and Ireland. This scenario arises because the USA could potentially accumulate more points than Pakistan. Even if the USA loses to Ireland and India, their superior run rate might give them an edge over Pakistan if Pakistan falls to India.

    Pakistan Qualification Scenarios Explained

Pakistan needs a minimum of six points from the four matches in the group stage. After the unexpected loss to the USA, the road ahead is challenging for the Asian giants.

If Pakistan win there all remaining matches and USA lose to India and Ireland Pakistan will directly qualify for the super 8 stage

In this case, Pakistan will have to hope that the USA loses to both India and Ireland, and that too by a large margin, so Pakistan can qualify based on net run rate. These are the only scenarios in which Pakistan can qualify for the Super 8 stage.

The Gary Kirsten-coached side must secure victories in all their remaining group-stage matches. Another loss would force Pakistan to rely on the results of other Group A matches to keep their Super 8 hopes alive.

  • Pakistan Cricket Team Players Host $25 ‘Meet and Greet’ Dinner, Face Backlash From Ex-Pakistani Captain Ahead Of T20 World Cup | Cricket News

The Pakistan cricket team and its players continue to spark controversies. Just before the start of their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, they reportedly hosted a ‘private dinner’ in the USA, inviting fans for a ‘meet and greet.’ However, this event wasn’t free or for charity; it had an entry fee of $25, which upset many in the Pakistani cricket community. Rashid Latif, a legendary Pakistan cricketer, took to social media to criticise this event organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board and the players.

In a video shared by Latif, fans could meet Pakistan players during the private dinner if they paid $25. Latif and others in the video were shocked by this concept.

“There are official dinners, but this is a private dinner. Who can do this? It’s terrible. That means you met our players for $25. God forbid, if something went wrong, people would say the boys are just making money,” Latif said in the video.

Presenter Nauman Niaz condemned the ‘sad state of affairs’ in the Pakistan team, while a fan suggested the price should have been higher if they proceeded with the idea. Latif acknowledged the concept of charity dinners but found a private dinner with a fee unacceptable.

“People tell me that whoever calls the Pakistani players, they just ask, ‘how much money will you give?’ This has become common. Things were different at our time, we had 2-3 dinners but they were official. But this is highlighted because it’s the World Cup. So the players should be careful. The amount of 25 dollars shouldn’t be blatantly used like this. You attend 2-3 dinners, but without the commercial angle. You can go for charity dinners and fundraisers, but this is neither fundraising nor a charity dinner. This is a private function with the name of Pakistan and Pakistan cricket associated with it. Don’t make this mistake,” he added.

T20 World Cup 2024: Pakistan’s WC campaign to begin from tomorrow against USA

The Pakistan team will start their World Cup campaign against the USA at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Thursday, June 6. • Yashasvi Jaiswal or Virat Kohli who will open for India in T20 World Cup 2024? Sunil Gavaskar Picks This Opener | Cricket News

India’s superstar batsman, Virat Kohli, has been in the form of his life during the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, scoring over 700 runs. Despite facing consistent criticism from former India opener Sunil Gavaskar regarding his strike rate, Kohli’s stellar performance has earned him praise and a potential new role in the Indian lineup. Gavaskar, previously skeptical of Kohli’s strike rate, has now endorsed him to open alongside Rohit Sharma for India, citing his recent IPL form. Notably, Gavaskar expressed doubts about left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal’s form, suggesting he may not be the ideal candidate to partner Sharma at the top of the order for the Men in Blue.

    India’s WC T20 2024 Warm-Up Match: Different Opening Combination

India’s warm-up game against Bangladesh hinted at a different opening combination, with Sanju Samson partnering Sharma due to Kohli’s late arrival from the United States. While Rohit Sharma clarified that the team composition is not finalized, the absence of Jaiswal from the opening slot indicates he might not be the preferred choice for the T20 World Cup 2024. Gavaskar emphasized Kohli’s exceptional form and suggested that his place as an opener alongside Sharma is justified, considering his recent performances. Regarding Jaiswal, Gavaskar noted a decline in his form compared to previous outings.

“The kind of form Virat Kohli has been in, especially in the second half of the season, he should open with Rohit Sharma. Good players are good players, the kind of form Kohli has shown in the IPL, he has to open the batting . It’s good to talk about the left-hand, right-hand combination on television, but good players are good players no matter where they bat,” Gavaskar said in an interview after the T20 World Cup opener between USA and Canada. “Yashasvi Jaiswal hasn’t been in the sort of form we saw him in during the Test series,” the India legend said of the left-hander who will compete with Virat for the second opener’s spot.

Despite Kohli’s absence from the warm-up game, he remains hopeful of featuring in India’s playing XI as they kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5. However, Jaiswal might have to wait for his opportunity, given the indispensability of Kohli and Sharma to the team’s top order.

India’s World Cup campaign to begin soon

India’s T20 World Cup journey includes matches against Ireland, Pakistan, USA, and Canada, with expectations high for Kohli’s potential role at the top alongside Sharma.

The MCG Clash: A Haunting Memory

Pakistan captain Babar Azam recently opened up about the indelible mark left by their last encounter with India at the 2022 T20 World Cup. It was a match that showcased Virat Kohli’s brilliance, as he played an unforgettable innings that snatched victory from Pakistan’s grasp. In a nail-biting finish at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Kohli’s unbeaten 82 off 53 balls orchestrated a dramatic four-wicket win for India.

Babar reminisced about that fateful match, admitting that Pakistan should have clinched the victory. “For me, in 2022 [World Cup]we could and should have won the India game, but they took it away,” he said. Kohli’s extraordinary six off Haris Rauf became the stuff of legends, and commentator Gerard Whateley’s phrase “shot of an emperor” aptly captured the moment’s grandeur.

    Handling Pressure: Barbar’s Approach

As the Pakistan team prepares for their World Cup opener, Babar emphasizes the significance of managing the immense pressure that comes with an India-Pakistan clash. “The expectations and hype around the match cause some nervousness,” he noted on the PCB podcast. However, Babar believes that focusing on the basics and maintaining composure can help players navigate the pressure cooker atmosphere.

“It’s a game of immense pressure, and if you keep your cool, stay calm, and trust your hard work and skills, things will be easier,” he advised. This approach will be crucial as Pakistan aims to improve on their recent form, having failed to make it past the group stages in the last World Cup.

    India’s unpredictability and Pakistan’s consistency

Both India and Pakistan have experienced fluctuating fortunes in recent T20 World Cup editions. India, despite their immense talent, has often faltered at critical junctures since their inaugural T20 World Cup win under MS Dhoni. The current squad, under the guidance of coach Rahul Dravid, seeks redemption and aims to draw inspiration from their past successes in the 50-over format.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s T20 World Cup record is a study in contrasts. Known for their unpredictability, Pakistan has reached the semi-finals or better in six of the eight editions, marking them as one of the most consistent teams in the tournament’s history. Despite internal strife and volatile performances, Pakistan remains a formidable force on paper.

    Virat Kohli: The Game Changer

For Babar, the specter of Virat Kohli looms large. Kohli’s performance in their last World Cup encounter was a masterclass in handling pressure and executing under duress. His ability to anchor the innings and finish with a flourish is something that Pakistan will be wary of. Kohli’s presence adds an extra layer of challenge for Pakistan, who must strategize meticulously to contain his impact.

    The Road Ahead

As the T20 World Cup 2024 unfolds in the West Indies and the USA, all eyes will be on the July 9 showdown. For fans and players alike, an India-Pakistan match is a spectacle that transcends cricket. It’s a contest that brings out the best and worst, showcasing raw emotion and unyielding determination.

Both teams have much to prove. For India, it’s about reclaiming their status as T20 giants, while Pakistan seeks to shed the ‘unpredictable’ tag and affirm their consistency. As Babar Azam and his men take to the field, they will carry the lessons of the past, the weight of expectations, and the hopes of a nation eager for victory.
