  • Elon Musk-Run SpaceX, NASA To Send Mission With Over 3,500 Kg Cargo To ISS |

New Delhi: Elon Musk-run SpaceX and US space agency NASA are set to launch a cargo mission with 8,200 pounds (3,719.45 kg) of supplies, scientific investigations, and equipment to the International Space Station (ISS) on Sunday.

The commercial supplies will be carried to the orbiting lab by Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus spacecraft (NG-21) onboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

The launch opportunity is available on Sunday at 11.02 am (ET). It is the 21st commercial resupply mission by Northrop Grumman for NASA. The scientific experiments aboard Cygnus spacecraft include “tests of water recovery technology, a process to produce stem cells in microgravity, studies of the effects of spaceflight on microorganism DNA, liver tissue growth, and live science demonstrations for students”.

In addition, the NG-21 will also carry two tiny CubeSats, as part of NASA’s ELaNa (Educational Launch of Nanosatellites) program. It will be deployed from the ISS after the Cygnus docks on August 5.

The NG-21 has been named the SS Richard “Dick” Scobee, after the NASA astronaut who commanded the ill-fated STS-51-L mission of the space shuttle Challenger.

Shortly after liftoff on January 28, 1986, Challenger exploded, claiming the lives of Scobee and his six crewmates. The Cygnus will be docked using the station’s robotic arm, and installed on the Unity module’s Earth-facing port on the ISS.

The spacecraft will spend almost six months connected to the orbiting laboratory before departing in January 2025. The orbiting lab currently houses 7 persons -five from Expedition 71 – Oleg Kononenko, Tracy Dyson, Mike Barratt, Matthew Dominick, Jeanette Epps, Nikolai Chub, and Alexander Grebenkin; and two Starliner crew -Indian-origin, Sunita Williams, and Butch Wilmore.

  • BJP Leader Counters Elon Musk On EVM Hacking Concerns, Says ‘Happy To Run A Tutorial’ |

Former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Saturday said that Elon Musk’s opinion that eletronic voting machines should be phased out is a “huge sweeping generalisation”, which holds no truth. Chandrasekhar also extended an invitation to the Tesla CEO to visit India and pick up some knowledge. He refuted the tech billionaire’s claim in a response to his post on X that electronic voting machines should be removed because of the “risk of being hacked by humans or AI, while small, is still too high.”

This is a broad generalisation that implies no one can create secure digital hardware. “Wrong,” said the former minister. According to Chandrasekhar, Musk’s viewpoint may apply to the United States and other countries where regular computing platforms are used to build “Internet-connected voting machines.”

Musk had reacted to Puerto Rico’s primary elections, which allegedly had voting irregularities. Chandrasekhar also disputed Musk’s statement, claiming that Indian EVMs are custom-designed, secure, and isolated from any network or media.

“There is no connectivity, Bluetooth, WiFi, or Internet; there is no way in. “Factory-programmed controllers that cannot be reprogrammed,” explained the former minister. “Electronic voting machines can be designed and built exactly as India has done. “We’d be happy to run a tutorial, Elon,” Chandrasekhar added.

  • Likes Now Private On Social Media Platform X, Users Can’t See Them On Posts |

New Delhi: A day after making likes private on his social media platform X, Elon Musk on Thursday said that the move has resulted in a massive hike in the number of likes for millions of users worldwide.

The tech billionaire had made all likes private by default to help people avoid retaliation from trolls and “better protect user privacy.”

In a fresh post on X, he said that there has been a “massive increase in likes after they were made private.”

After this change, the X users will not be able to see the posts that other users have liked on the platform.

However, the users can still see the posts they liked and the post’s original writer can see who liked it.

According to the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, the move is important to allow people to like posts without getting attacked for doing so.

According to the social media platform, ‘likes’ are visible between you and the author.

“The author will be notified, but not anyone else. The bookmark is only visible to you. We could even make it customisable for users,” according to the company.

  • Elon Musk Withdraws Lawsuit Against OpenAI And Its Co-Founders Sam Altman, Greg Brockman |

New Delhi: Elon Musk has dropped his lawsuit against OpenAI and its co-founders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. The lawsuit which was filed in a California court this February alleged that OpenAI had breached its contract and deviated from its original mission of developing AI to benefit humanity. Elon Musk’s decision to drop the lawsuit came just a day after he publicly criticised OpenAI’s new partnership with Apple.

Musk’s lawsuit claimed that OpenAI has violated an agreement with its founding members which included a commitment to remain a non-profit and keep its technology open-source. However, OpenAI strongly denied all these accusations and argued that Musk wanted “absolute control” of the company and had even suggested merging it with Tesla. A lawsuit filed by Elon Musk was dismissed with prejudice, according to CNBC. Musk initiated the lawsuit in February and accused Open AI and its co-founders of betrayal. He also claimed that Benchmark Capital had breached an agreement signed in 2019. The dismissal with prejudice means that the case cannot be refiled in the future. Elon Musk’s withdrawal of the lawsuit prevented a hearing that was scheduled for Wednesday in San Francisco. During this hearing, the judge was set to decide whether to dismiss the case. “Seeing the remarkable technological advances OpenAI has achieved, Musk now wants that success for himself,” stated OpenAI’s attorneys. In an April filing, Musk argued that OpenAI was attempting to “advance arguments based on disputed facts” that were not relevant to the lawsuit.

At its World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC 2024), Apple announced that it is going to integrate ChatGPT with Siri. Apple said that it is integrating ChatGPT access into experiences within iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, allowing users to access its expertise — as well as its image- and document-understanding capabilities — without needing to jump between tools.

“Siri can tap into ChatGPT’s expertise when helpful. Users are asked before any questions are sent to ChatGPT, along with any documents or photos, and Siri then presents the answer directly,” the company said.

Also, ChatGPT will be available in Apple’s systemwide Writing Tools, which help users generate content for anything they are writing about.
