Minister of State for Exterior Affairs V Muraleedharan mentioned in Rajya Sabha that the non-public details of an applicant can be digitally saved within the chip that will be embedded within the passport booklet.
The federal government is predicted to roll out e-passports this 12 months.
“The ministry is making plans to factor chip-enabled e-passports to electorate with complex security measures. The e-passport options contactless good card generation, together with an embedded Radio Frequency Identity (RFID) chip embedded within the entrance or again duvet or web page of the passport,” he mentioned in a written respond to a query on e-passports.
