  • Good News For Delhiites: Delhi Metro To Run Early Morning Services On These Routes On Sundays |

    The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a change in the commencement time for Metro services on the Phase-III corridors on Sundays. Starting from August 25, 2024, the usual start time of 8:00 AM for these corridors will be revised to an earlier time.

    According to an official statement from the DMRC, this change is intended to benefit students and exam aspirants who often have competitive exams scheduled on Sundays. The adjustment will allow them easier access to their exam centers across Delhi-NCR, offering a more convenient and seamless travel experience.

    The DMRC emphasized that this change is specific to the Phase-III corridors on Sundays. All other corridors in the Delhi Metro network will continue to operate as usual, with services commencing at 6:00 AM daily, including Sundays.

    To tackle the increased passenger volume on Raksha Bandhan on Monday (August 19), the Delhi Metro will have additional standby trains available on its routes, ready to be deployed if needed to handle the higher demand.
    On X, Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) announced the services and said, “To facilitate passengers on the festival of Rakshabandhan on Monday i.e, on 19th August 2024, Delhi Metro will be ready with additional standby trains on its corridors for induction into services to cater the rush, if required.”

    “DMRC will also deploy additional personnel at stations to cater to the extra rush of commuters by operating additional ticket counters,” the post said. “Passengers are requested to use mobile Apps i.e. DMRC Momentum, WhatsApp, Paytm, one Delhi, and Amazon to buy QR tickets online to avoid the rush at ticket counters or to buy National Common Mobility Card / Smart Card from Customer care centres,” said the DMRC.

    It further said that guards and Customer Facilitation Agents (CFA) will be deployed at major Metro stations to help and guide commuters on the day. Every year, Raksha Bandhan is celebrated with much exuberance and great festivity in India. The festival cherishes strong bond between brothers and sisters.

    Delhi Metro services will commence at 4 am on August 15, 2024, to facilitate public attendance at the Independence Day celebrations. The early start is intended to ensure that attendees can reach the ceremony on time.
     On regular days, the Delhi Metro operates from 5 am to 11:30 pm, though timings may vary slightly depending on the line and station.

    Special Timings and Frequency

    The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that trains will operate from terminal stations across all lines starting at 4 am. Initially, the trains will run at a frequency of 15 minutes until 6 am. After that, the regular timetable will be in effect for the remainder of the day.

    Travel Privileges For Invitation Card Holders

    To accommodate those attending the Independence Day ceremony, special travel privileges will be available. Individuals holding an official invitation card issued by the Ministry of Defence can enter and travel on the Delhi Metro by presenting a valid government-issued photo ID at the stations. This arrangement will allow exit and subsequent return journeys from three specific stations: Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Chandni Chowk. 
     Special Announcements and Reimbursement

    Throughout the day, regular announcements will be made inside the trains to keep passengers informed about these arrangements. The Ministry of Defence will reimburse the cost of travel for those using the metro with an invitation card.
    At 7:30 am, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver his 11th consecutive Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

    New Delhi: Good news for Delhites! WhatsApp, an instant messaging app, has announced the metro card recharge feature for Delhi Metro commuters across the Delhi NCR region.

    Notably, android and iOS users can find quick access to the chatbot by tapping on the payments section on their WhatsApp. Using the same ticketing and chatbot services, commuters can also access the metro card recharge service in both English and Hindi language by sending ‘Hi’ to +91 96508 55800 or by scanning the QR code.

    The DMRC’s ticketing service via WhatsApp is accessible on all lines in the Delhi National Capital Region, including Gurugram Rapid Metro.

    How To Recharge Metro Card On WhatsApp?

    Step 1: Save the Delhi Metro WhatsApp number +91-8624888568 as a contact on your phone.

    Step 2: Open WhatsApp and initiate a conversation with the saved number.

    Step 3: Send a “Hi” message to the chatbot to begin the process.

    Step 4: The chatbot will guide you through each step of the recharge procedure.

    Step 5: Write your metro card number and recharge amount, then select your preferred payment method, such as UPI, debit card, or credit card.

    Step 6: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the payment.

    To recall, WhatsApp had enabled the QR ticketing system across all DMRC routes including the Gurugram Rapid Metro. The chatbot service provides passengers with instant information and support, including details on train schedules, fares, and station information.

    Over the last few months, several other states including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Nagpur, and Pune have also integrated WhatsApp into their transport services, enabling a convenient transit experience for millions of commuters in these cities. (With inputs from ANI)

    The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the closure of several metro stations in response to the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) protest plans against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Along with this, Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 outside the Patel Chowk Metro station. Delhi Traffic Police has also issued an advisory restricting the movement of vehicles in Delhi’s central part and several roads have been closed.     Metro Station Closures

    Lok Kalyan Marg Metro Station: The station will remain closed until further notice due to security concerns related to the AAP protest.

    Patel Chowk Metro Station (Gate no 3): Gate no 3 of Patel Chowk Metro Station will also be closed until further notice.

    Central Secretariat Metro Station (Gate no 5):  Gate no 5 of Central Secretariat Metro Station will remain closed for the time being.

    Security Update

    Due to security reasons, entry/exit at Lok Kalyan Marg Metro station, Gate no 3 of Patel Chowk Metro Station and Gate no 5 of Central Secretariat Metro station will remain closed till further notice.

    The closures are a precautionary measure taken by the authorities to ensure the safety and security of passengers and metro facilities amidst the planned protest activity. The Aam Aadmi Party has called for a ‘gherao’ at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence, protesting the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. However, the Delhi Police has stated that no permission has been granted for the protest, and adequate security measures have been put in place to maintain law and order.

    Section 144 Imposed 

    The Delhi police issued announcements outside the Patel Chowk Metro station regarding the AAP protestors. They stated that section 144 had been imposed, protesting without permission was prohibited, and the area needed to be cleared within 5 minutes.

    Delhi Traffic Police Advisory

    Ahead of the AAP’s planned protest, the Delhi Traffic Police has released an advisory for the New Delhi district. The advisory includes:

    1. No Parking Zones: Vehicles are not allowed to be parked or halt on Tughlaq Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kemal Ataturk Marg, with strict enforcement and towing away of violators.

    2. Diversion Points: If required, diversions will be implemented at various points including Aurobindo Chowk, Tughlaq Road, Samrat Hotel roundabout, Gymkhana Post Office roundabout, and others.

    3. Public Cooperation: Commuters are urged to cooperate by avoiding the specified routes if possible and making use of public transport to ease congestion.

This facility allows passengers to seamlessly purchase metro tickets using their smartphones across the entire network, comprising 12 metro lines and 288 metro stations, including the Gurugram Rapid Metro line.

    The WhatsApp-based ticketing service offers commuters a hassle-free way to secure their metro tickets directly from their smartphones. This innovative approach eliminates the need for traditional ticket purchasing methods, enabling travelers to buy tickets from the comfort of their homes or workplaces.


    Steps to Book Metro Tickets On WhatsApp

    To book Delhi Metro tickets on WhatsApp, follow the steps below:

    1. Send a “Hi” message to DMRC’s official WhatsApp number at 9650855800.

    2. Upon initiating contact, you will be prompted to choose your preferred language, with options available in Hindi and English.

    3. Tap on the “Buy Ticket” button provided in the chat interface. You will then be able to select your source and destination stations. Additionally, options for Last Journey Tickets and to Retrieve Tickets are available.

    4.  Indicate the number of tickets you wish to purchase for your journey.

    5. After confirming all the details, you will be directed to make the payment. A payment link will be generated for the transaction. Please note that a convenience fee will be applied for transactions made via credit/debit cards, while UPI-based transactions will not incur any additional charges.

    6. Receipt of QR-based Ticket Once the metro ticket is successfully paid for, you will receive a QR-based ticket on WhatsApp.

    Important Points to Remember Before Booking Delhi Metro Tickets

    – A person can buy a maximum of 6 QR-based metro tickets for a single journey.

    – Each QR-based metro ticket will remain valid until the end of the day.

    – Upon entering a gate, you have 65 minutes to exit.

    – Tickets can be booked during operational hours, and there is no option to cancel QR-based Delhi metro tickets.

    – If you exit from the source station itself, you’ll have 30 minutes to do so.

    – QR-based tickets do not need to be printed; you can simply scan the QR code using your phone at designated scanners available at AFC gates for both entry and exit.
