  • Tirupati Laddoo Row: SC To Hear Pleas Of Subramanian Swamy, Ex-TTD Chief Seeking Probe On September 30 |

Tirupati Laddoo Row: The Supreme Court is set to hear petitions seeking an investigation into the alleged use of animal fat in the preparation of laddoos ‘prasadam’ in Tirupati on Monday.

The petitions have been filed by Bharatiya Jaata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman YV Subba Reddy, who is a Rajya Sabha MP.

Last week, a row erupted after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu claimed that animal fat was used to make laddoos given as ‘prasad’ by the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati under the previous YSR Congress government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Both Swamy and YV Subba Reddy have urged for a court-monitored probe into the allegations, and their petitions will be heard by a bench of Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan, according to media reports.

The BJP leader, in his public interest litigation (PIL) filed earlier this week, requested the Supreme Court to direct the Andhra Pradesh government to file a detailed report on the ghee used for making the laddoos. He also sought a detailed forensic report in the matter.

Citing a lab report, the state government had claimed that the ghee used in the laddoos contained traces of beef tallow, fish oil, and lard (pig fat).

“There ought to have been checks and balances internally to supervise and verify and check the quality, or the lack of it, of the suppliers supplying various ingredients to the temple that go into the making of the prasad,” the petition said.

Meanwhile, a PIL was also filed by YV Subba Reddy seeking an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) monitored by a retired judge of the apex court to probe the allegations levelled by Naidu’s.

Amid the controversy over Tirpati laddoos, Reddy has been going all out to defend his party against the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s claims. He has been reiterating that no adulterated ghee was used in the process of making laddoos.

Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu on Friday slammed Jagan Mohan Reddy and accused him of “spreading false information.” This comes after Reddy claimed that the TDP government obstructed his visit to Tirumala.

  • Tirupati Laddoo Row: YSRCP’s Jagan Reddy Calls Naidu ‘Pathological Liar’, Seeks PM Modi’s Intervention |

Tirupati Laddoo Row: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention in the controversy pertaining to animal fat allegedly being found in Tirupati temple laddoos. He said that attempts are being made by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to irreparably tarnish the sanctity, integrity, and reputation of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

In an eight page letter addressed to PM Modi, Reddy dubbed the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister as a “habitual liar” and alleged that CM Naidu has stooped so low as to hurt the beliefs of crores of people purely for political objectives.

“Attempts are being made by the Chief Minister Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, to irreparably tarnish the sanctity, integrity, and reputation of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. Lord Venkateshwara has crores of Hindu devotees not just in India but across the globe, and if the delicate situation is not handled carefully, these lies could precipitate a widespread agony, having far-reaching consequences on various fronts,” the letter read.

Reddy also said that Naidu be reprimanded in the severest way and the truth be brought to light. “Chandrababu Naidu, a pathological and habitual liar, has stooped so low as to seriously hurt the beliefs of crores of people purely for political objectives… It is imperative that Mr. Naidu be reprimanded in the severest way for his shameless act of spreading lies and the truth be brought to light. This would allay the suspicions that Mr. Naidu has created in the minds of crores of Hindu devotees and restore the faith in the sanctity of the TTD,” Reddy’s letter read.

The letter came days after the controversy pertaining to the Tirupati temple laddoos erupted after Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu claimed that the previous YSRCP government did not even spare Sri Venkateswara temple and used substandard ingredients and animal fat for making laddus.

Later, TTD Executive Officer J. Shyamala Rao, in a press conference, said lab tests had revealed the presence of animal fat and lard in chosen samples, and the board is in the process of blacklisting the contractor who supplied “adulterated” ghee.

Detailing the process undertaken at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the custodian of the super-rich shrine of Sri Venkateswara Swamy, for accepting ghee, in an eight page letter, Jagan alleged that Naidu’s actions lowered not only the stature of CM but also that of everyone in public life, the sanctity of TTD and its practices.

“Sir, the entire country looks to you at this crucial juncture. It is very imperative that Mr Naidu be reprimanded in the severest way for his shameless act of spreading lies and the truth be brought to light. Sir, this would help allay the suspicions that Mr Naidu has created in the minds of crores of Hindu devotees and restore their faith in sanctity of TTD,” Reddy wrote in his letter.

Explaining the sequence of events, he said it is crucial to note that the ghee allegedly adulterated was rejected and not allowed to enter the premises of TTD. However, Naidu, with malafide intention, raised the issue at a political party meeting on September 18.

In the letter, the former Andhra Pradesh CM also claimed that the new government has failed on all fronts with respect to the fulfillment of the commitments made to the voters prior to the elections, and CM Naidu is spreading lies to divert attention from his failures.

“The new Government has failed on all fronts with respect to the fulfillment of the commitments made to the electorate prior to the elections. The new Government could not even pass the general budget for the current financial year fearing that the appropriations to be made would expose Mr. Naidu’s insincerity towards his election promises and would result in backlash from the people of the State. The people of the State lost trust on the abilities of Mr. Naidu. Mindful of this and for purposes of diverting the people’s attention from his failures, Mr. Naidu had spread blatant lies against the practices of the TTD.”

  • Union Budget 2024: Andhra Pradesh Gets Big Boost, Rs 15,000 Cr Allocated For Amaravati |

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on Tuesday that the Central government will allocate Rs 15,000 crore for the development of Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh. While presenting the 2024-25 Budget in the Lok Sabha, she emphasized the NDA government’s commitment to the timely financing and completion of the Polavaram Irrigation project, deemed vital for the state and its agricultural community.

“The government has been dedicated to meeting the obligations set out in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Acknowledging the state’s requirement for a capital, we will ensure special financial assistance through international development agencies. This fiscal year, we will secure Rs 15,000 crore, with additional funds to follow in subsequent years,” she said.

Sitharaman also mentioned that, as per the AP Reorganisation Act, funds for critical infrastructure development in industries, including water, power, transport, and roads, will be provided, along with grants for the underdeveloped areas of Rayalaseema, Prakasam, and North coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a significant ally of the BJP at the Centre. Naidu serves as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Since 2014, political parties from Andhra Pradesh have repeatedly protested, demanding special category status for the state. Allegedly, Naidu left the NDA in 2018 because of the failure to award special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

Special category status designates regions or states for special assistance by the central government, including tax incentives and financial aid, to foster regional development.

  • TDP-Led Andhra Govt Demolishes YSRCP Headquarters, Ex-CM Jagan Calls It ‘Naidu’s Vendetta Politics’ |

Municipal authorities razed the YSR Congress Party’s under-construction central headquarters in Tadepalli, Guntur district, early Saturday on allegations that it was illegal. The Mangalagiri-Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC) began demolition with excavators and bulldozers at around 5:30 a.m. The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) had notified the opposition party about the alleged illegal construction.

On Friday, the YSRCP filed a petition in the High Court contesting the CRDA office. According to a party spokesperson, the court ordered a halt to all demolition operations, which the YSRCP’s counsel transmitted to the CRDA Commissioner.

Officials from the CRDA and MTMC stated that the irrigation department’s land was being used to build the YSRCP office. There have been claims that the boatyard land was leased for a nominal sum during the tenure of the former Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP government. Additionally, there were claims that the building was started without first obtaining CRDA and MTMC approval.

    Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, former chief minister and YSRCP president, has attacked the TDP-led government’s actions. In his post on ‘X’, he claimed that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had turned to political vendetta. He said that a tyrant used bulldozers to demolish the YSRCP’s central headquarters, despite the High Court’s rulings.

According to Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu’s actions were a message about how his administration would be for the next five years. However, the YSRCP Chief stated that the party would not be intimidated by these threats or political vendettas. He promised to fight for the people’s rights and urged all democratic forces in the country to reject Chandrababu Naidu’s actions.

  • After Nitish Kumar, Many Others In Line For ‘Ghar Wapasi’ In NDA Ahead Of 2024 Polls |

NEW DELHI: “It’s never too late to mend,” goes the adage, and in the ever-shifting landscape of politics in India, this rings especially true. As alliances evolve and partners realign, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) finds itself at the centre of attention once again, with several former allies contemplating a return to the fold ahead of the crucial 2024 elections.

The BJP: The Architect Of The NDA

At the heart of the NDA stands the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), orchestrating the intricate dance of coalition politics. With the advent of the Narendra Modi era, the NDA witnessed a seismic shift in its composition after the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Now, as the countdown to the 2024 polls begins, attention turns to those allies who are either making a comeback or seriously considering it, following in the footsteps of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s recent U-turn.

Modi-Shah Era And Its Impact On The NDA

In 2013, when Narendra Modi was anointed as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, the NDA boasted 29 constituent parties. While the BJP swept the elections with 282 seats in the Lok Sabha, its allies clinched an additional 54 seats. However, in the subsequent five years of Modi’s tenure, 16 parties bid adieu to the NDA, signaling a period of flux and transition within the alliance.

    Departures And Realignments

Lessons from 2014 and 2019 The run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections saw the high-profile departure of Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), setting the stage for a series of exits by regional players such as the Haryana Janhit Congress and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Between 2014 and 2019, several other parties, including the Telugu Desam Party and the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party, followed suit, reshaping the NDA’s landscape.

    Recent Exits And Returns

Shiv Sena, SAD, and JD(U) Post-2019, the NDA witnessed the departure of stalwart allies like the Shiv Sena and the Shiromani Akali Dal, while Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) made a surprising comeback following the Bihar Assembly elections in 2022. These developments underscore the fluid nature of coalition politics, where alliances can shift with the changing tides of public sentiment and regional dynamics.

As the 2024 elections loom large, speculation abounds regarding potential returns to the NDA fold. Nitish Kumar’s departure from the opposition alliance signals a significant shift, with other influential figures like Chandrababu Naidu and Uddhav Thackeray also engaging in strategic dialogues with the BJP. Meanwhile, negotiations with regional heavyweights like the Akali Dal and the potential announcement from Jayant Chaudhary hint at further realignments on the horizon.

Amidst these political manoeuvres, the NDA alliance appears poised for a resurgence, consolidating its position ahead of the electoral battleground. Yet, the road to power is fraught with challenges, requiring both new and returning allies to navigate the intricate web of coalition politics. As Prime Minister Modi’s ambitious “400 plus” slogan reverberates, the stage is set for a high-stakes showdown, with the Congress eagerly watching for any signs of weakness within the NDA camp.

Who’s Next In Line For The ‘Ghar Wapasi’ In NDA?

With Nitish Kumar’s recent defection setting the stage, the question on everyone’s mind is: who will be the next to heed the call of ‘Ghar Wapasi’ within the NDA alliance? As alliances shift and political fortunes fluctuate, one thing remains certain: the 2024 elections promise to be a watershed moment in India’s political landscape, with the NDA at the forefront of the action.
