KOLKATA: Pointing out that her govt took motion towards the previous TMCP scholar chief who heckled the vice-chancellor of state-run Aliah College, West Bengal Leader Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday sought to grasp what steps had been initiated towards the VC of Visva-Bharati, a central college.
Giasuddin Mondal, a former chief of the TMC’s scholar wing, was once noticed in a purported video threatening and verbally abusing Aliah College VC Mohammad Ali, following which he was once arrested.
“Police have already made an arrest within the Aliah College incident. What is going on in Visva-Bharati and Bolpur? What number of people were arrested there? Has the VC of Visva-Bharati been arrested?” she informed journalists on the state secretariat.
“A bit (neighborhood) research in Aliah College. All are just right. There may also be discontentment a few of the scholars of Aliah College. The person who hurled abuses has been arrested via police. Right here police take motion,” she added.
Banerjee’s feedback got here within the backdrop of ceaseless scholar protests on the Visva-Bharati in Bolpur’s Santiniketan over a bunch of problems.
“Is there any motion taken in Visva-Bharati towards what this ‘bhadralok’ (gentleman) is doing there,” she stated, in an obvious dig.
By the way, Visva-Bharati praised the police and stated that an identical steps will have to be taken towards the ones scholars who had gheraoed senior varsity functionaries remaining month and used abusive phrases.
