Sunil wrote- “I am really very happy and grateful that my recent performances have inspired many people to publicly express their desire for me to come back from retirement and play in the upcoming T20 World Cup.” Narayan insisted that he had accepted his decision and would support the team from home. “I have accepted that decision and although I don’t want to disappoint anyone, that door is now closed and I will be supporting the players who will be taking the field for the West Indies in June,” he said. Sunil Narayan has retired from international cricket
The 35-year-old Narayan, who played his last T20 international match for West Indies in 2019, retired from international cricket in November last year to focus on franchise T20 leagues around the world. However, seeing his excellent form with both bat and ball for Kolkata Knight Riders in the current season of IPL, West Indies captain Rovman Powell had requested him to come out of retirement and represent the team.

Narayan, who joined Knight Riders in 2012, is at seventh place in the list of batsmen scoring most runs in the current season of IPL. He has scored 286 runs which includes an unbeaten century against Rajasthan Royals last week which was his first T20 century. This off-spinner is jointly the most successful bowler of the Knight Riders with the ball, taking nine wickets at an average of 22.11 and an economy rate of 7.10.
