With Sanju Samson’s future at Rajasthan Royals under scrutiny amid trade rumors, former cricketer Mohammad Kaif has proposed Yashasvi Jaiswal as the prime candidate to lead the team. Kaif believes Jaiswal’s proven ability to score runs internationally and his inherent talent make him the perfect fit for captaincy. “He has the temperament, skill, and international experience,” Kaif explained, underscoring Jaiswal’s global impact with the bat. He highlighted Jaiswal’s impressive performances in IPL 2024, showcasing his aggressive batting and composure. Kaif acknowledged that Jaiswal’s regular inclusion in the Indian T20I and ODI sides has been hampered by the presence of established players, but his batting credentials are unquestionable. The former India player also mentioned Riyan Parag’s exceptional IPL 2024 campaign as a positive sign for future leadership, though he stressed the need for patience and development for Parag if given the reins. Sanju Samson has captained the Royals with considerable success since 2021. Should he be traded, the franchise might be forced to hand over the leadership mantle to a promising young talent like Jaiswal.
