Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has expressed his concerns about India’s cricket team, ahead of their upcoming Asia Cup match. Akram believes India’s current fearless approach to the game makes them a formidable opponent. India’s recent victory over the United Arab Emirates in the Asia Cup set the stage for the match against Pakistan on September 14. Akram observed that the Indian team’s mindset is different, and they are playing with freedom, a quality he attributes to a well-defined process that began long ago. He emphasized the crucial role of India’s domestic T20 cricket in honing the skills of players, preparing them for international competition. He praised the batting of Abhishek Sharma. During a discussion on Sony Sports, Akram highlighted the Indian team’s players’ distinct mentality. He emphasized their fearless approach to the game. He commended the influence of India’s domestic cricket. Ajay Jadeja, a former Indian cricketer, inquired about Pakistan’s confidence level in the upcoming match. Akram responded by affirming Pakistan’s current form and highlighted the team’s emphasis on team performance rather than individual statistics. Akram also shared his views on Pakistan’s match against Oman. He observed that the Pakistani batsmen faced some difficulties. He suggested that a cautious approach is necessary when encountering bowlers for the first time. He complimented Mohammad Haris’s batting performance. He expressed his preference for Mohammad Haris at number three but questioned the decision regarding Fakhar Zaman, who has been an opening batsman throughout his career. He pointed out the challenges of managing a team with multiple opening batsmen. Pakistan won their first match of the Asia Cup against Oman by 93 runs.
