In a significant boost for the USA cricket team at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Event Technical Committee has greenlit Ehsan Adil as a replacement for the injured Jasdeep Singh. The decision comes swiftly after Jasdeep suffered a right shoulder injury during a warm-up clash against New Zealand on February 5, forcing him out of the tournament.

Adil, a seasoned Pakistani cricketer, steps into the USA squad with a wealth of experience. He has represented Pakistan in three Test matches and six ODIs since his debut in 2013, claiming five wickets in Tests and four in ODIs. His domestic prowess is impressive too, with 245 first-class wickets at an average of 22.86 and 98 List-A scalps across 67 matches each.

The approval process underscores the ICC’s stringent protocols: no player can join a team officially without the Event Technical Committee’s nod. The ICC confirmed in a statement, ‘The Event Technical Committee for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has approved Ehsan Adil as a replacement for Jasdeep Singh in the USA team.’

USA’s campaign has been rocky so far. On February 7, they fell short by 29 runs against India in Mumbai’s Group A encounter, managing 132 for 8 while chasing 162. Currently languishing in fifth place in Group A, USA trails leaders India and Pakistan, both with one win apiece.

Adil’s inclusion couldn’t come at a better time. USA faces a crucial showdown with Pakistan on February 10, followed by Netherlands on the 13th and Namibia on the 15th. Fans are eager to see if the ex-Pakistan pacer can turn the tide for the Americans in this high-stakes tournament.
