The US Open in 2025 is under threat for Jannik Sinner, following his retirement from the Cincinnati Open final due to illness. The Italian player also withdrew from the mixed doubles competition at Cincinnati. During the final match against Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner was visibly struggling, losing the initial seven points and retiring in the first set due to feeling unwell. He was seen struggling with the heat and holding his stomach before retiring. His coach, Darren Cahill, confirmed that a virus caused Sinner’s withdrawal from the match. Cahill provided an update stating that Sinner is recovering, will rest, and is expected to be back on the court on Thursday. Cahill expressed confidence in Sinner’s recovery ahead of the US Open.
