Umran Malik Leaks 36 Runs in One Over as KKR Faces Pace Woes

Mumbai’s DY Patil T20 Cup turned into a nightmare for Umran Malik on February 25. The once-fiery pacer, currently out of the Indian team, had a forgettable outing for Tata Sports Club against Mumbai Customs. In a spell that lasted just two overs, he conceded a staggering 59 runs, with the second over alone costing 36 runs.

The disaster unfolded in the 13th over. After a single off the first ball, Rugved slammed a four on the second and a no-ball six on the third. The free hit was negotiated without damage, but More exploded next with a six and a four. Then came a wide, another no-ball, and Sachin’s free-hit four (invalidated), capped by yet another six on the final free hit. Chaos defined the over.

Mumbai Customs chased down the target in 16 overs, powered by More’s blistering 101 off 46 balls, including a century off 45. Umran’s struggles amplify concerns for Kolkata Knight Riders, his IPL 2026 team. With Mustafizur Rahman released and Harshit Rana nursing a knee injury, KKR’s pace attack looks vulnerable.

Umran burst onto the scene in IPL 2022 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, grabbing 22 wickets in 14 games and earning an India call-up. He played 10 ODIs and 8 T20Is, last featuring in 2023. But form has deserted him since, sidelining him from national duties and raising questions about his big-league future.
