Windhoek, Namibia – In a dominant display at the Namibia Cricket Ground, Sri Lanka crushed Ireland by 106 runs in the 13th match of the Under-19 World Cup 2026 on Monday. This victory marks their second consecutive win, propelling the young Lankans to the top of Group A.

Having previously demolished Japan by 203 runs, Sri Lanka bounced back strongly after Ireland had suffered an 8-wicket defeat to Australia. The Irish side now languishes in third place in the group.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka endured an early setback, slumping to 17/2. Captain Vimoth Dinusara then steadied the ship with a crucial partnership.

Dulanith Sigera joined the skipper for a 42-run stand for the third wicket before departing for 22. Kavija Gamage then anchored the innings, adding 79 runs off 111 balls with Dinusara, helping the team reach 139. Gamage smashed 6 fours in his 49-run knock.

Dinusara’s masterclass continued as he forged a 100-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Chamika Henatigala. The captain fell for a magnificent 95 off 102 balls, featuring 6 fours and a six, while Henatigala remained unbeaten on 51.

Sri Lanka finished at 267/5. Ireland’s Oliver Riley claimed 2 wickets, with Ruben Wilson and Luke Murray picking one each.

Chasing 268, Ireland collapsed to 161 all out in 40.1 overs. Callum Armstrong top-scored with 39, including 3 fours, followed by Ruben Wilson’s 32 and skipper Oliver Riley’s unbeaten 31 off 35 balls with 2 sixes and a four.

Dulanith Sigera starred with the ball, taking 4/19, while Rasith Nimesar grabbed 3 wickets. Sri Lanka’s comprehensive win solidifies their position as Group A frontrunners, setting the stage for thrilling encounters ahead in the tournament.
