Raipur. Four promising players of Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh have waved Chhattisgarh and the country by performing strongly in the international bodybuilding and weightlifting competition held in Pokhara city of Nepal. More than 300 players from seven countries including India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Myanmar participated in this competition organized by the International Joint Indian Sports Association. From India, Suraj Rajput, Deepali Soni, Abhishek Tiwari and Anurag Jangde from Kawardha in Chhattisgarh won gold medals by participating in this prestigious competition.
Suraj Rajput won the International Mr. Overall title
In the bodybuilding competition, Suraj Rajput of Kabirdham defeated the participants of seven countries and won the title of International Mr. Overall. Suraj, who has previously won medals in Mr. Chhattisgarh, Senior National Bodybuilding Championship and Powerlifting, is currently working as a coach in Kawardha’s “Bharat Health Club”. They are providing free training to about 50 youth. Suraj believes that this success is not only from him, but from the whole of Chhattisgarh. He said, “It is not easy to get out of the small town and reach the international stage, but if there is passion in the mind and guidance is correct, then no floor is far away.”
Deepali Soni became the first woman weightlifter gold winner of Kabirdham
Deepali Soni, who became the first female gold winner of Kabirdham district, won the 76 kg category. Sharing her experience, Deepali said, “The journey to Nepal was very inspiring for me. For the first time, playing abroad and waving the tricolor was a dream, which was fulfilled.” Deepali has also won medals in national and state level competitions earlier.
Abhishek Tiwari and Anurag Jangde also won gold
Abhishek Tiwari of the sub-junior category won the gold medal in the men’s 67 kg category. Abhishek said, “When the medal came around my neck, I remembered my parents, Guruji and the hard work of the entire district.” At the same time, 14-year-old Anurag Jangde won a gold medal in sub-junior weightlifting in the 109 kg category. Anurag expressed happiness and said, “I am very happy that at such a young age the gold medal for the country was won. All this was possible because of my coach Suraj sir.”

The credit for training these four players goes to Suraj Rajput, who has been preparing the youth of the district internationally by giving free training for years. Suraj expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Sports Minister Tank Ram Verma for his success and achievements of the team and said that this achievement will be the inspiration of every youth of the state as well as the district.
