Indian opener Rohit Sharma is eager to return to international cricket and is diligently preparing himself. He successfully passed the Yo-Yo test at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru last week. Several players, including Shubman Gill, also participated in the test. Following the Yo-Yo test, Rohit Sharma was expected to undergo the Bronco test. However, this test did not occur, and a key reason has emerged. Team India’s Strength and Conditioning Coach, Adrian Le Roux, introduced the Bronco test. Nevertheless, the test has not yet been implemented.

Reports indicate that the Yo-Yo test, which included Rohit Sharma, took place on August 31st. Sharma passed, proving his fitness. The Bronco test was also planned, but the BCCI has not yet introduced it. Consequently, Rohit Sharma was excused from the test.

According to reports from TOI, this test could possibly be conducted in Dubai before the Asia Cup. Team India is scheduled to depart for Dubai on September 4th and hold their first session at the ICC Academy on September 5th. Therefore, if the BCCI decides to conduct the Bronco test, Dubai is the likely venue, though this remains uncertain. As a result, Rohit Sharma did not participate in the Bronco test.

Rohit Sharma, who has retired from T20I and Test cricket, has been absent from international cricket for a while. His last appearance was on March 9th in the Champions Trophy final, where India defeated New Zealand. Following this match, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been away from international cricket.

There’s a possibility of both players returning for the three-match ODI series in Australia next month. They are currently undergoing rigorous training. Previously, Rohit Sharma expressed his interest in playing the ODI series against Australia-A during their tour of India.
