    Born in the village of Ratgama, Malinga’s early life was marked by a passion for cricket. His father, a mechanic at the Galle bus depot, provided a humble background, but Malinga’s talent was evident. His unique action allowed him to bowl accurate yorkers, a skill that set him apart. He began his formal cricket training at Vidyaloka College. Chaminda Vaas, a former Sri Lankan fast bowler, played a pivotal role in shaping his talent.

    Malinga’s International Debut

    Malinga’s international career commenced in 2004. His Test debut against Australia in Darwin showcased his potential. He secured the wickets of Darren Lehmann and Gilchrist in his debut match. In his Test career, Malinga took 101 wickets in 30 matches. His success continued in ODIs, with 338 wickets, and T20s, with 107 wickets. In total, Malinga took 546 wickets in international cricket.

    Malinga’s IPL Success

    Malinga’s IPL career further solidified his reputation. He was a vital player for the Mumbai Indians from 2008 to 2019. In 127 IPL matches, he took 179 wickets, with an economy rate of 6.88. Malinga’s exceptional performance in the IPL earned him an estimated 50 crore rupees.
