Reigning champions India, who defeated South Africa in a thrilling 2024 final, will aim for another triumph. India holds the distinction of being a multi-time T20 World Cup champion, a status shared with England and the West Indies. The tournament format for 2026 will feature 20 teams organized into four groups of five. The top two finishers from each group will advance to the Super Eights phase, comprising two groups of four teams. The knockout stages will then see the top two from each Super Eights group move on to the semi-finals.
