The Proteas bowlers displayed a strong performance, containing Australia’s innings at 207 at Lord’s. Although Australia scored 212 in their first innings, the South African batting was limited to 138 runs. The second innings saw the South Africans take early wickets against the Australian top and middle order. South Africa is now set a target of 282 runs. Throughout Test history, South Africa has successfully chased down scores of 250 or more five times. Three of these instances were against Australia, the most impressive of which was the 414 chase at WACA, Perth, in 2008.
