South Africa secured a memorable four-wicket victory against India in Raipur, chasing down an imposing total of 359 to level the ODI series at 1-1. The Proteas’ success was spearheaded by an exceptional century from Aiden Markram (110*), who received crucial support from Matthew Breetzke (68) and Dewald Brevis (54). India had posted a commanding 358/5, with Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring centuries to put the hosts in a strong position. However, Markram’s calculated and aggressive batting laid the foundation for the chase. His partnership with Temba Bavuma provided a solid start, and later, his alliance with Breetzke kept the momentum going. The dew factor played a significant role, assisting the South African batsmen as they confidently attacked the Indian bowlers. Dewald Brevis’s rapid fifty, in particular, injected significant momentum into the chase. Despite losing wickets in the closing stages, including Breetzke and Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch calmly saw South Africa across the finish line with an unbeaten 29. This chase of 359 equals the highest ever against India in ODI history.
