Singapore Open: PV Sindhu was eliminated from Singapore Open after losing to Carolina Marin of Spain

Singapore. World number 12 badminton player PV Sindhu lost to Spain’s Carolina Marin 21-13, 11-21, 20-22 in a tough fight in the second round of the BWF Super 750 badminton tournament. Thus, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu’s campaign in the Singapore Open ended with defeat in the second round on Thursday.

Earlier, the Indian player had earned the right to face former Olympic champion Marin by defeating world number 21 player Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjersfeldt 21-12, 22-20 in the first round. Sindhu and Marin faced each other in the final of the 2016 Rio Olympics, in which Marin was the winner. With this victory on Thursday, Marin has improved her record against Sindhu to 12-5.
