In a thrilling Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup 2026 at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza delivered a match-defining innings to post a challenging 153 for 7 against South Africa. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Zimbabwe faced early setbacks but Raza’s brilliance steered them to a competitive total.

The innings began disastrously with Tadiwanashe Marumani dismissed for 7 in the 1.2 over, leaving Zimbabwe at 14 for 1. Brian Bennett followed soon after, adding 15 runs with a four and a six, but the score slipped to 28 for 2. Dion Myers then partnered with Raza, forging a crucial 38-run stand for the third wicket off 23 balls, providing some stability amid tumbling wickets.

Raza, promoted up the order, anchored the innings masterfully. He found an able ally in Clive Madande for the sixth wicket, where they added 39 runs in 29 balls to push past the 100-mark. Raza’s unbeaten 73 off 43 balls, laced with 8 fours and 4 sixes, was the standout performance, showcasing his power-hitting and composure under pressure. Madande contributed a quick 26 not out from 20 balls, including 3 fours.

South Africa’s bowlers struck regularly early on, with Kwena Maphaka and Corbin Bosch grabbing two wickets apiece. George Linde, Lungi Ngidi, and Anrich Nortje chipped in with one each. Now, South Africa must chase 154 to keep their Super 8 hopes alive.

Zimbabwe’s lineup: Tadiwanashe Marumani (wk), Brian Bennett, Dion Myers, Sikandar Raza (c), Ryan Burl, Tony Munyonga, Clive Madande, Brad Evans, Wellington Masakadza, Graeme Cremer, Blessing Muzarabani.

South Africa’s XI: Aiden Markram (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Ryan Rickelton, Dewald Brevis, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, George Linde, Corbin Bosch, Anrich Nortje, Kwena Maphaka, Lungi Ngidi.
