India’s triumphant march into the T20 World Cup 2026 final has sparked a fiery exchange between former cricketers. On Thursday, at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium, the Men in Blue clinched a thrilling seven-run victory over England in the semi-final, setting up a blockbuster showdown.

The victory parade turned into a roast session as ex-Indian opener Navjot Singh Sidhu unleashed a scathing attack on Pakistan’s former pacer Mohammad Aamir. Sidhu branded Aamir a ‘fake baba’ for his string of wildly inaccurate predictions throughout the tournament.

‘Some people have a habit of making baseless prophecies,’ Sidhu remarked. ‘If they come true, they flaunt them as grand achievements. But when they flop, they dismiss them as mere guesses. These folks masquerade as wise sages, yet their words rarely touch reality.’

Sidhu pointed out Aamir’s earlier blunders. Before the semis, Aamir had boldly claimed India wouldn’t even qualify for the knockout stages, tipping West Indies and South Africa to advance. Reality hit hard: both those teams crashed out, while India powered through.

Aamir doubled down pre-semi, predicting an England win over India. Once again, he was proven wrong as India’s bowlers, led by the unstoppable Jasprit Bumrah, defended a modest total to seal the deal.

Even after the loss, Aamir graciously acknowledged India’s superior play in the decider. He credited Bumrah’s express pace as the game-changer and noted that a dropped catch of Sanju Samson could have swung momentum.

Sidhu’s sharp words have ignited debates across the cricket fraternity, highlighting the perils of bold predictions in high-stakes tournaments. As India gears up for the final, fans are buzzing not just about the silverware, but also this entertaining sideline drama.
