In a heartwarming blend of cricket legacy and family milestone, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to personally extend an invitation to his son Arjun Tendulkar’s upcoming wedding. The Master Blaster shared the special moment on social media, posting photos from the meeting and expressing his gratitude.
Tendulkar, accompanied by his wife Anjali, daughter Sara, son Arjun, and Arjun’s fiancée Sania Chandok, presented the invitation at the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi. In his X post, Sachin wrote, ‘It was a pleasure inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Arjun and Sania’s wedding. The PM blessed the young couple and shared valuable advice. Thank you for that.’
The engagement between 26-year-old Arjun, a promising left-arm pacer, and Sania, from Mumbai’s prominent Ghai family, took place in August last year. Sania, granddaughter of businessman Ravi Ghai, serves as a partner and director at Mister Paws Pet Spa and Store LLP. Her family holds significant stakes in hospitality and food sectors, owning the InterContinental Hotel and popular ice cream brand Brooklyn Creamery.
Arjun has been making strides in domestic cricket for Goa as an all-rounder. In 22 first-class matches, he has claimed 48 wickets and scored 620 runs. His List A record includes 25 wickets and 155 runs from 23 games. In the IPL, Arjun debuted for Mumbai Indians in 2021 and made his playing debut against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023, picking up 3 wickets in 5 matches so far. He is set to represent Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026.
This personal gesture from Tendulkar underscores the deep respect between India’s cricket fraternity and its leadership, as the nation eagerly awaits updates on the wedding celebrations.
